Amazin LêThị has built her career as an activist and advocate for the Asian LGBTQ+ athletic community. As a former bodybuilder and current competitive shooter, LêThị competed in bodybuilding as a young woman when society was much less friendly to female competitors. Seeing success in the sport, she has continued to build upon that platform to continue challenging society's notions of Asian LGBTQ+ people and continuing to push for equal representation, education and awareness of the issues today.

Inner West Roller Derby League coming in with an important message! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🛼
As a club with a long history of welcoming trans athletes, the Inner West Roller Derby community has responded to the recent controversy regarding trans athletes in womens’ sport.
Inner West Roller Derby President Rainbow Smash said today,
“Roller Derby has led the way with a longstanding inclusion of gender diversity. Roller derby also leads the way in standing up for and along side our gender diverse and trans players.”
“We are distressed to hear the assertion that trans athletes are a threat to women and girls. Trans athletes are our teammates. We train with them, we play with them, we welcome them”.
“What is a threat to women and girls is the policing of gender by people determined to drive a wedge between diverse and supportive communities of players.”
Australian roller derby clubs abide by the Sport Australia policy that:
- All Australians should have the opportunity to be involved in sport and physical activity, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, ability, cultural background or ethnicity.
Australian Roller Derby has been guided by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (the international peak body) position that
- An individual who identifies as a trans woman, intersex woman, and/or gender expansive may skate with a WFTDA charter team if women’s flat track roller derby is the version and composition of roller derby with which they most closely identify.
“This irresponsible campaign of fear is putting people we love at risk. Sport is a wonderful aid to wellbeing for marginalised and vulnerable people. We will not let them take it away”.
“Women athletes differ in age, size, health status, strength and skill. Gender expansive inclusion recognises that the diversity of athletes comes in many forms and adds to the richness of our game.”
