Arizona Sliders Reining Team - Western IEA Team

We are welcoming riders in all divisions both high school and middle school. There is a place for all skills levels of riders. All skill levels are welcome.

The Arizona Sliders are an IEA Western Team in Arizona. We are based in Scottsdale, Arizona and welcome riders of all disciplines. This is a great way to learn about the sport of Reining and fine tune your Horsemanship skills. Horse ownership is not necessary or required. We have a great group of kids and parents which makes it a fun and competitive group to be a part of!

‘Let your child have a bad ride.
I know you want to protect them from the hardships of this world.
I know you want to give them success and good experiences.
I know you don't want to see them get hurt. To see them fall. To see them fail.
But, hear me out, let your child have a bad ride.

Let them cry the tears of frustration.
Let them shake the sand out from the inside of their riding pants.
Let them face the fear building inside of them.
Let them step back on again.

Yes, let your child have a bad ride.
Let them hate the horse that challenges them.
Let them learn what fight and passion and ambition mean.
Let them realize that when they refuse to quit the horse will take the time to listen.

Grant them the joy of realizing that they are connecting with another living being.
Grant them the joy of realizing that they, although they are small, can be powerful.
Grant them the joy of seeing their hard work pay off, through the days of tears can come a love unspeakable.

Yes, let your child have a bad ride.
Afterall, life will grant us plenty of them.’

November Lessons!

10/01/2017

The Arizona Sliders had our first IEA Show of the year yesterday, this is our 4th year having a team and we have a wonderful mix of new riders AND riders that have been here since the beginning.
I'm not sure that everyone realized how tough this competition can be......these kids get on horses that they don't know and don't get to warm up, then they head into the arena trying rise to the top of the class and earn their way to our National Finals at the NRHA Derby.
I'm so proud of Ben Balow and Kaylee Lynn Naylor yesterday, both of them drew horses in horsemanship that were not easy to get around and they both handled their horses with respect and they both appreciated the opportunity to step up their game. These two riders have both won national championships for our team in the past and I love how they have no sense of entitlement. Second year team member, Morgan Farrell was a rockstar yesterday, winning the JV Beginner Horsemanship. Morgan is getting more competitive with every ride! Kaci Rodriguez showed for our team for the first time yesterday and I couldn't be happier with how she handled herself, bringing home a 3rd in JV Novice Horsemanship.
In the middle school division, we welcomed back Olivia Britt Felderhoff to the team. Olivia Hartman showed off how much her riding and mental game has improved over the last year! We had first timer Aubree Karlee Leyva in the Future Novice Division and she looked great showing in both the Reining and Horsemanship. And last but not least, we welcomed Tyson Shannon TristonShannon Hilliker Gillette to our team and he did great bringing home a 3rd place in the Future Beginner Division.
The Arizona Sliders are hosting the next show on November 18th, if any of you have horses that you would be willing to lend us for the horse show it really helps these kids to ride new horses and not over use our current stock. Please PM me if you have something! This is the biggest challenge in putting on a horse show and we are extremely thankful to all of those folks that allow their horses to be used at the shows. We are especially thankful to those that donated horses to the Arizona Equestrian Team show yesterday hosted by Jessica Tozer Bein.
