Boaters flock to Bartlett Lake on Memorial Day, finding underwater 'treasures' The marina shop saw 1,500 people over the holiday weekend. It's been their biggest day of the year. Although, not as many people as last year.

A friend sent me this today. If this happens bait shops will not be able to carry or sell minnows. It will be even harder to get minnows and all live bait.

Bartlett Lake Road has been reopened and the public can access the marina and facilities. Horseshoe Dam Road is still closed.

Road is open, just drive safely there's is a little dirt on the road

Due to rising flood waters in the Camp Creek Wash, Maricopa County has closed Forest Road 19 (Bartlett Dam Road) at the intersection with Cave Creek Road to protect public safety. There will be no access to Bartlett Lake facilities including the Marina and Forest Service Campgrounds and Day-Use areas until the road can be safely reopened. Visitors currently at the lake will be allowed to leave. The Camp Creek watershed has received over 2 inches of rain in the latest storm, creating hazardous road conditions in the area.
Road to the Bartlett Lake Marina is officially closed. We will post info on how long or when it will open.

Storms Prompt SRP to Increase Water Releases through Valley The latest in a series of warm, late-winter storms has prompted Salt River Project to increase the current water releases today from its two reservoirs on the Verde River to create available storage capacity and ensure dam and public safety.Because of this week’s warm storms, the snow on the water...

Horseshoe Dam Road is washed out and impassable. The road has been barricaded to protect the public due to unsafe driving conditions.

Drove to Bartlett Lake today and it was very beautiful. Lots of white poppies mingled with their yellow amigos and lupines. But it should be even lovelier in another week. In fact, I think that will be the case at many parks and trails. There are lots of blooms throughout the desert right now but peak color should be the last week of March and first week of April Plenty of poppies are just getting started and an explosion of brittlebush is waiting in the wings. Then come the ocotillo, palo verde trees, and cactus varieties. So expect a spectacular season deep into April. But don’t wait for all that. Get out there now! I’m finding a bounty of flowers on every trail I hike. The spiky blues of lupines are everywhere. I’m seeing lots of scorpionweed, fairy duster, deer vetch, blue dicks, desert chicory, chuparosa and so much more. These aren’t the showiest blooms of the season but they add such brightness and charm to the desert. Look, birds are singing, lizards are scampering, the air is spicy with the perfume of renewal. This is a great time to focus on the delicious details all around. No season is full of richer details than spring. Get outdoors every chance you get and savor it all.
Don’t forget I’m giving a free presentation of “Awesome Arizona” on Thursday in Sun City West at the RH Johnson Library, 11am. I’ll also give a wildflower update on “Good Morning Arizona Friday at 7:30am.” Bartlett Lake Marina

Good morning, from Bartlett Lake Marina a little foggy this morning

Bartlett Dam Road on the Cave Creek Ranger District will see increased traffic with potential delays through the weekend. A permitted photography shoot will be taking place along Bartlett Dam Road and North Lake Road Saturday and Sunday; short periods of traffic stops may be needed. A mountain bike race is also taking place along sections of Forest roads and trails between Blue Wash and Rio Verde Drive. Please drive with caution and be prepared to share the road with cyclists.

Snowing on Bartlett Dam rd

Due to heavy monsoon storms on July 27 and 28 and associated debris flow, numerous areas of Forest Road 459 (North Lake Road) have been made impassable to vehicle traffic. Crews are working to clear North Lake Road and access is restricted to the intersection of Bartlett Dam Road (Forest Road 19) until the debris can be cleared and the road is made safe for vehicle travel. Motorists will not be able to use North Lake Road while road crews are clearing and repairing the road. In some areas the debris is up to 4 feet deep and local crews worked into the evening hours last night to assist visitors who had become stuck at multiple recreation sites. Crews will continue clearing the road and recreation sites through the weekend and anticipate being able to reopen the road by Tuesday, August 2, however, additional rain is forecasted for the next several days which has the potential to cause further debris flows and may delay the reopening.
Road work will impact all recreation sites along North Lake Road and the following sites will be inaccessible until the work is completed:
- Rattlesnake Picnic Area
- SB Cove Picnic areas and Shoreline
- Yellow Cliffs Boat Launch and Picnic Sites areas
- Bartlett Flats Shoreline
The Jojoba boat launch and nearby shoreline, Bartlett Marina, and the Riverside campground are unaffected by the road closure and remain available for visitors at this time.

The Story of Bartlett Lake Marina and The Last Stop Bar and Grill
The story begins in Avon Lake Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie, where brothers Bryan and Eric Church grew up. Eric would spend his summers working at Charlies boat rental and this is where he found his love for the water and all the recreational opportunities it offers. Bryan began working construction after graduating high school and found his passion for building and developing, unfortunately he was injured in a work related accident in 1980 that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
