A year ago Sara and I took a big risk, embarked on a huge journey, betting on ourselves, believing SO deeply in our vision for how we could serve our clients BETTER, and opened Resolve Fitness.

We had no idea what the future would hold, just faith in ourselves, our ability to adapt and grow, our deep desire to serve, and a strong VISION of what could be.

And we made it! Resolve Fitness (Ballard) is one year old tomorrow, June 1, and we’re over the moon.

We get to work with THE most amazing people, and we’re blessed with clients who have a strong desire to grow and put their heart and minds into the work they do both in and out of the gym. Our clients are the ❤️ of our gym.

Entering year 2 we’re on a mission to change more lives for the better, and our vision continues to sharpen and refine.

Excited to make MASSIVE magic happen this year and be the force for positive change in our gym, our families, our community, and beyond.

Here’s to a BIG year of growth and success, and here’s to a BRIGHT and exciting future at Resolve Fitness.

👇DID YOU KNOW THIS?? 👇
You have estrogen receptors on the tissues of nearly every one of your bodily systems?

And did you know when a tissue has an estrogen receptor it means that estrogen is important to the function of that system?

And did you know that when you’re premenopausal the body has a rhythmic, predictable release of hormones that communicate with all these bodily systems to keep them functioning well?

And did you know that when you start to go through perimenopause (usually in our 40s!), that hormonal ‘conversation’ becomes more & more chaotic & unpredictable, which has widespread impacts across nearly all our bodily systems?

I mean the effect is DRAMATIC. The chaotic state of our hormones impacts:

🧠Our Brains—resulting in increased depression, brain fog, and more

🫀Our Cardiovascular system—resulting in heart palpitations, and an increased risk of heart disease

Our Digestive System—resulting in poor absorption of some vital nutrients, and a less healthy microbiome

🦋Our Thyroid—sometimes resulting in an under-functioning thyroid, impacting metabolism and well-being

Our Adrenal glands—resulting in higher levels of stress hormones and high(er) levels of anxiety🤯

Our Liver—impacting iron absorption

Our Muscles, Bones, Tendons, AND Ligaments—resulting in loss of bone and muscle mass, and a greater level of aches and pains, especially in our joints😫

NO WONDER MANY OF US STRUGGLE WHEN WE’RE GOING THROUGH THE MENOPAUSE TRANSITION—nothing is working the way that it used to!

So if you’re over 40, feeling like your body is acting funny or feeling wonky, it’s not in your head.

Your body truly isn’t working the way it used to!

And this can be upsetting or depressing if we don’t a) understand what’s happening, and b) take steps to MITIGATE the negative impact of our menopausal hormonal changes.

If you’re not sure where to start, or how to choose workouts or how to implement needed nutrition changes that work for YOUR body & your lifestyle, we’re here for ya! 🙋‍♀️

We and help women over 40 build total body strength, while improving overall health and well-being, safely & effectively.

Are you making this HUGE fitness mistake?

It’s a show-stopper for anyone over 40….skimping on your warm up 😱

Take it from some coaches who’ve been ‘masters athletes’ for a few years: Our ‘older’ tissues deserve more respect…just like the badasses they belong to!

And FYI: in the world of exercise, the terms ‘masters athlete’ means age 35 and up 😬

Respecting our, ahem, *mature* tissues includes, but definitely isn’t limited to, making sure to warm up THOROUGHLY.

It’s a principle that we very much adhere to at Resolve Fitness with all our clients.

To get the most out of our workouts we benefit from a slightly longer, focused warm up—one that gets all the joints moving, and gives special attention to the areas of our body that we’ll be using more of in that work out.

Loosely translated, warming up thoroughly means you’ll have:

*Less sticking and clicking of joints and more sliding and gliding.

*Less chance of muscle strains or tendon issues.

*More fun working out AND better results!!

For workouts with lots of pushing and pulling we include moves that include more shoulder, elbow, and ribcage area movement.

For more squats and lunges we include more hip and knee-oriented moves.

When you deadlift, the focus is on getting the hips and hamstrings warm and the core muscles active and bracing.

And for an all-around mobility and warm up flow, the ‘Spider-Man’ complex with some bootstraps added in (shown here) is a fave.

You should try it, too!

Long story short: make sure to respect your badass masters athlete body and give it the warm up it needs and deserves every workout 👊

You’ll love how you feel!

PS—give us a 👍 in the comments if your bod is a ‘masters’-aged bod, too!

Scott’s making those weighted chins look super easy…like 🧈 (although he might say it felt different!)

Can we get a 👏👏 for Scott!!

Don’t let today’s PR fool ya—Scott’s been working diligently to improve and increase his athletic capacity while keeping his spine strong and healthy for a few years now, and we’ve been working together since winter of 2021.

Helping awesome people like Scott overcome injuries so they can have the personal freedom to do their sport of choice, do massive weekend backyard projects, and stay healthy and super active is what we do at Resolve Fitness.

Through systematic assessment, strategic planning, client education, and an open line of communication we work in partnership with our clients to overcome injuries and setbacks in their fitness so they can lead a more active, fulfilling, and limitless life.
