Who are we kidding, who would even want that? 😉
But frankly, that’s been the norm in the gym industry for a long long time:
❌ cookie cutter programs that aren’t individualized or adaptable as you move through the different phases of life
❌ lone wolf attitude and relying only on discipline instead of building a supportive community around you who WANTS to help you succeed
❌ fear mongering or gate keeping around strength training when really EVERYONE can be lifting heavy weights
❌ coaches who are too overworked and burnt out to care (even if they want to)
❌ quick fixes, short extreme challenges, etc.
At SSP we set out to do things differently and now have 1,000+ members strong who are living proof that the method works!

April Member Appreciation: David L & Patrick T 🎉💪
If we’re not having fun, we’re doing something wrong, David and Patrick make sure that never happens.
These two bring energy, consistency, and just the right amount of accountability (😉) into every session. They push each other, support each other, and fully lean into what makes SSP special: working hard and actually enjoying the process.
They truly embody Core Value #6: If we’re not having fun, we’re doing something wrong. Because for them, fitness isn’t just about the work, it’s about the experience, the people, and the shared effort along the way.
Here’s what they had to say about SSP:
“We love that SSP feels like a community and the great attitude of all of our coaches.
Besides mutual accountability ;) we always look forward to the workouts because we know there will always be a challenging and fun program in store. We’re never bored!
What makes SSP different is the focus on ‘the why’ strength for a long and healthy life.
Patrick had a fairly serious back surgery and thanks to SSP he’s back to doing deadlifts, and David has never had this level of strength and mobility in years. We both feel at the top of our physical strength thanks to SSP!
Knowing that we’re doing hard work to take care of ourselves is really meaningful. And the way that our classmates and coaches cheer each other on when we’re pushing ourselves truly helps us get stronger. We feel deeply connected to a group of humans all joyfully investing in their health and reaching new goals.”
From our side, SSP is simply better with these two in it. They bring great attitudes, great energy, and are just genuinely great humans - there’s no lacking of laughter when they’re around. And we love that strength runs in the family!! Shoutout to their sisters who are members at WS!
The benefits of strength training go way deeper than aesthetics. Yes building muscle is cool but it’s the changes that go on inside your body that are (we think) the most important!
Three that we think don’t get talked about nearly enough:
🦴 Bone density — we start losing bone density earlier than most people realize. Strength training is the best way to keep your bones strong and dense over time!
🧠 Mental health — lifting builds a kind of confidence and calm that carries into every part of your life. Need proof? Go look at some of our member appreciations, Google Reviews, or testimonials!
😴 Sleep — deeper, more restorative sleep? Yes please. Lifting regulates cortisol and helps your body actually recover the way it’s supposed to!
If you’re mainly lifting for the way it makes you look, zero judgment! Everyone is welcome at SSP. But for most of our members, strength training is about the life it helps them live and health and longevity!
Strength comes in all forms - and at SSP, every single one is celebrated! Whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned pro, big or small, young or old, we've got a customized plan to help you crush your goals. Strength training is for every body!
Q1 in fitness spaces is always filled with so much fun and energy! New goals, new members, new excitement for taking care of our health - and SSP is no different!
Whether this was their first quarter with us or your 20th, our coaches are SO proud of all the hard work put in by our members these past few months 👏🏻
Just because you missed Q1 doesn’t mean you’re too late - it’s always a good time to recommit to your goals! We’d love to meet you!

BUSINESS FOR UNICORNS SPRING 2026 RETREAT 🦄
This past weekend some of the leaders of our team at SSP packed their bags and headed to Atlanta to attend the retreat! This is our 7th time attending and .travisss 5th time representing SSP on the big stage!
SSP joined business for unicorns in 2022 looking for camaraderie and mentorship from some of the best to do it in the fitness industry. Not long after, our very own Chris was invited to be a coach on their team and has been helping gym owners all across the country ever since.
This community has taught us so much about leadership and business but has also brought us so many amazing connections of other gyms who are also dedicated to making the fitness industry more welcoming and community oriented!
Thank you for another amazing retreat - and we’ll see you all in Seattle in September!

MARCH MEMBER APPRECIATION: a new bestie of ours, Beth M! 🫶🏻
Beth may be newer to SSP (just 4 months in!), but the impact she’s made and the progress she’s experienced have been incredible to witness. She shows up with honesty, resilience, and strength that has quickly turned into confidence… and yes, now she truly oozes positivity in her sessions.
Her journey is a powerful reminder that showing up, even when it’s hard, can change everything:
“At age 42 and amid the most grueling year of my personal life, I knew two things:
I needed to heed the advice of my doctor and trusted friends and figure out this whole ‘strength training’ thing.
I needed to drown out the noise and prioritize my own wellness within a framework of accountability, safety, and support.
I’m happy to report I have found all this and more at SSP. When I first stepped foot in the gym, I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t cheerful. I was suffering. I didn’t ‘feel’ like working out or being social. But I knew I needed to show up and trust the process. SSP gave me the space and support to do just that. It isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. A few months later, I am in such a better place both mentally and physically, and SSP is no small part of that. The coaches know my name. They push me and believe in me. They empathize, cheer me on, and laugh with me.
I am strong. I am capable. I have gifts to offer and gifts to receive. This crew shows up and reminds me of all this and more, each time I walk in the door. I’m lifting double what I was just a few short months ago, and this is just the beginning. I’m learning to rewire my brain to value strength (in all its forms) over a number on a scale or a clothing size. Thank you, SSP, for the passion, professionalism, and personal touch you bring to all you do. This is a top-notch program and a genuine community I wholeheartedly recommend for any age, any body, any experience level, any season of life. SSP has quickly become a treasured part of my weekly routine. I’m so glad I’m here!”
— Beth Morris
Beth we are SO grateful you trusted the process and to be a part of your journey! You inspire US everyday ❤️

Coach. Athlete. Proud dad. 💪
Blake grew up playing football, basketball, soccer and any other sport that someone wanted to play. He went on to play college football until he broke his tibia and fibula and separated his shoulder all in one play. That setback eventually led him into coaching—and he’s never looked back.
Blake has been coaching for 9 years, turning fitness into a full-time profession about 6 years ago, and most recently managing F45 Queen Anne for the past couple of years.
His favorite athlete to coach was always his daughter. She went on to become Athlete of the Year at Lincoln high school in 2025 and now attends the University of South Carolina, studying business and playing club sports. Proud dad moment.
When he’s not coaching or working out, he is trying to get back into playing soccer and basketball but mostly can be found hanging out with his wife, cooking, watching shows, or walking their dog Carlos all around Queen Anne. 🐾
Now that his shoulder is finally healing from surgery last year, Queen Anne Mayor Coach Blake is planning to learn tennis, pickleball, and maybe even some kettlebell juggling.
From Coach Blake:
“I’m excited to bring high energy, motivation, and good vibes to SSP. Let’s get stronger and move better together. 🔥”
You don’t need to be “fit” to start strength training!
It sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud… and yet it’s one of the biggest barriers keeping people out of gyms, out of strength training, and out of spaces that could genuinely change their lives.
We hear it all the time:
“I’ll start once I lose some weight.”
“I’ll come in when I feel more in shape.”
“I just need to get a little fitter first.”
And honestly, we get it. Walking into a gym can feel intimidating. New environment. New movements. People who look like they know what they’re doing.
But here’s the truth: no matter your age, background, experience level, identity, schedule, injury history, or how many times you’ve stopped and started, you deserve to take up space in a gym just as much as anyone else.
At Seattle Strength & Performance, that belief is at the core of everything we do. Our job is to meet you exactly where you are, and help you move forward safely, consistently, and with confidence. Yes, we have experienced lifters. Yes, we have athletes. And we love them.
But the heart of SSP has always been something else: the person walking in unsure. The person starting over. The person doing this for the very first time. That’s who we’re here for🫶🏻
