The hard work is done and these athletes are getting ready to let 'em rip at Paraclimbing Nationals this weekend!

I'm so proud of all of my athletes and their dedication to trying hard physically and mentally this season. And that's why it means so much to get to work with people who can pause and have some fun even when it's hard.

Some words from , longtime client and Colorado crusher. Thanks Josh!

Emmett is the best coach out there. He cares so much about his athletes and wants to make sure he is doing the best he can for his athletes. It’s been almost 3 years working with Emmett and I have seen my climbing improve immensely. He has helped me stay accountable and show up to the gym and always wants to hear from me when I climb and share videos. Private lessons are 100% worth it, the way he structures lessons and talks through concepts is extremely beneficial and more of a conversation about climbing rather than a coach telling me what to do. Emmett is more than a coach, he is a great friend.

This was a great summer of something new for our Para team: the full circuit.

Lots of awesome performances on and off the wall. The way our athletes supported all the athletes in all the categories from all the different countries was one highlight in particular.

Congrats to all the
team members this year. You're all making this something very special and I feel honored to watch you all grow.

= Update on Offerings =

To keep up with the ever expanding world of coaching, I am changing my prices to better reflect my intentions as a coach. As a reminder, all prices are always available on a sliding scale for anyone who may not be able to afford them at full price. Coaching is for everyone, not just those who can afford it!

Base Monthly Training Plans will be changing slightly. Each plan will come with a minimum of 2 video calls per month for $120, with an unlimited amount of communication and changes, within reason. I didn't feel right limiting access to me behind a paywall. I want my coaching to be there for anyone, regardless of how much you can pay.

The Advanced Monthly Plan will offer the exact same thing as the Base Plan but will now live as an option for any athlete who wants to help support other climbers who can't pay full price. One Advanced plan can help me cover the cost of up to 2 other athletes!

Similarly, the Premium Monthly Plan will offer the exact same thing as the Base Plan but will now live as an option for any athlete who wants to help support even more climbers who can't pay full price. One Premium plan can help me cover the cost of up to 5 other athletes! I expect this one will be rarely used but just in case a wealthy dowager or the like stumbles upon this page I want an option for them to spread the love!

Everything else is staying exactly the same! I was just too lazy to make a new graphic... 🫠🫠🫠

Different climbers need different things and not all of them can afford to pay for what they need. So while I still feel uncomfortable with those big numbers, I can at least know they won't stop any one of my athletes from getting the support they need.

Skill Drill - One Stick Wonders

Last week we discussed readjustments and their impact in rock climbing. If you haven't read that, I would recommend doing so before you read ahead! Now that you're caught up, let's talk about how to help build good habits around readjusting.

Readjusting is really normal for climbers to do. We never want to remove that skill from our bag of tricks when we're on the wall, but we do want to try and learn to only use it when we truly have to. In order to practice eliminating unnecessary readjustments, we're going to be doing perhaps my favorite drill of all time, One Stick Wonders.

In the video above you can see me climbing a yellow climb, two ways. The top video is just me climbing it without a care in the world. The bottom is me doing a One Stick Wonder.

To do a One Stick Wonder, we simply need to climb a climb without readjusting our hands and feet. To do that, we typically need to have really good intention when we go to grab a hold or place a foot wherever it needs to go. Don't forget that intention comes from the eyes; watch every hand or foot placement all the way until you've weighted them! This focus will help you not only place them perfectly, but also it will help you trust those placements more.

It's very helpful to start working this drill on climbs that are somewhat easier for you. This lets you focus less on not falling and more on the ex*****on of the drill. Win-win! As you get better at the drill, try pushing it to harder and harder grades. Remember, it's okay if you make a readjustment, but our goal is to do harder and harder climbs without them!

I hope this helps you all in your attempts to become a better climber! Tag a friend who needs to work on their readjustments in the comments below and be sure to tag my account in any videos you post of you working this drill.
