-3.8 Low tide exploration today below the Ballard Elks beach and Rays Boathouse. Lots of beach debris from rusty metal, old and new glass, porcelain plates, tires and other weird stuff. And picking up other people’s trash at Secret Beach.

Beach debris from a twenty minute walk oh Freshwater Bay beach west of Port Angeles earlier this week. It’s always coming in, it’s our job to keep removing it to protect marine life and ultimately ourselves.

We offer Sup and surf ski training in the tidal rapids of Deception Pass. A short drive from Seattle. Learn to read the tides and currents, paddle in tidal currents and rapids and where to surf! I have group classes and private sessions. Visit my site in bio for details or give me a holler.

This morning the surf was too small and shallow for my 9” surf ski rudder. So I negotiated a line into a coastal river mouth and eddied my way up stream.

I practiced ferrying and peeling in and out of a class 2 rapid then glided back down.

By then the tide and swell had risen for several fun rides in the surf. The spot does require paddling in 3 miles to access so I always leave fuel in the tank to get back.
