Happy New Year!
The University District Scottish dance class will resume for our Winter quarter next week, on Tuesday January 16th. This quarter we will be back to our past schedule of meeting every week from 8 - 9:55pm upstairs in room 209 of University Heights, though the hall is unavailable the second Tuesday of every month so please check the schedule below. The first class of the quarter is a great time to bring a friend or come back for a refresher if you've been away for a while. Please consider printing out one of our class fliers (attached) and posting it in a neighborhood coffee shop or other venue in Seattle to help advertise class!
We hope to dance with you soon!
Ian and Lea

The U-District class will resume in just a few weeks, on September 26th.
In the meantime, the other Tuesdays in September there will be ball reviews for the RSCDS Centenary Workshop and Ball 7-9 PM at Phinney Ridge, in Room 35 in the lower building. Ian and I will be teaching the one this week on the 12th.
We have limited Tuesdays available to us at U-Heights at the moment, and attendance has been spotty, so we're trying to encourage everyone to come on select nights for longer classes.
The current plan is to have instruction on steps and figures from 7-8 PM and a short program of dances from 8-10, with difficulty levels going up as the evening progresses. We're hoping newer dancers can be sure to join us 7-9 PM.
Our class schedule for September and October:
* September 26, 7-10pm - please bring a friend!
* October 3, 8-10pm - note different time
* October 24, 7-10pm - this will be our Halloween party!
At our first two classes we will discuss options for our classes in November and December, as well as some possibilities for filling in classes at other locations when the hall is not available to us.
Please let us know if you have dance requests and if you can attend or have friends interested in joining.
We will publish a list of dances that will be taught in class with cribs when we've received some requests. Please invite your friends to join us, this is a great time for a new person to pick up Scottish Country Dancing!
Thank you, and we can't wait to see you dancing!
Lea and Ian

Fall is here, and with it the start of Scottish Country Dancing! Our classes at University Heights will resume on Tuesday, September 27 in the upstairs auditorium (room #209) at our usual time of 8:00-9:55pm. As of this writing, we have the same Covid protocols as past quarters (with the update that drop-ins are permitted!):
* The Seattle RSCDS requires proof of vaccination before attending a class or other event. If you have previously sent me one, that works. If you are unsure, send me an email and I can check my records. A selfie with your vaccination card usually works best.
* The Seattle RSCDS also requires a signed copy of the Hold Harmless agreement (attached). For good measure, I would like everyone to sign and return a new agreement this year. I will have a few copies at the first couple of classes, but would appreciate it if you are able to print a copy yourself and bring it to your first class.
* University Heights requires that masks be worn in the building. This applies in the hallways and common areas, but is up to individual renters in the rooms. We will start with a mask requirement, and will assess the situation and the preferences of class members as the quarter progresses.
* University Heights still requires a keycode to access the building. This code only unlocks the Southwest entrance to the building (doors on the West side, closest to the playground). The key code is the same as for past quarters. Contact us at [email protected] for the code if needed.
With all of that out of the way, I am excited to resume dancing again, and am looking forward to seeing you at class!

It's been a long year, but I am excited to announce that we are planning to resume our Scottish dance class on Tuesday September 28th. Our old room on the main floor now has a long-term renter, so we will be meeting this year upstairs in room #209. We will still meet at our usual time of 8:00pm - 9:55pm. Since we will be dancing indoors and will not be able to maintain social distancing, we will be requiring pre-registration and proof of vaccination before joining us at class. University Heights also requires that masks be worn in the hallways outside of class. Please email [email protected] if you would like me to add you to the class list for Fall, and I will use that list to request vaccine info closer to the start of class.
