The newly revised Cooking Whole30 cookbook is out now! The cookbook has been revised to better reflect recipes' origins and to include a more diverse set of recipes. It's also been released in paperback to reduce cost. Why is this a big deal? Because it's a reflection of Whole30's efforts to become more inclusive, more aware, and more accessible.
This project is just one shining example of why I'm proud to be a coach for this program. Check it out!
COOKING WHOLE30 is HERE! š Just in time for the January Whole30, Melissa Hartwig Urban's updated, revised, and expanded version of THE WHOLE30 COOKBOOK is now available wherever books are sold.
Visit whole30.com/cooking-whole30 for links to purchase, two preview recipes from contributor Abeer Najjar, and a peek into why this book is so special.
Now ... which recipe to make first?

Whatās so special about Whole30 anyway? Isnāt it ājust another fad diet?ā
There are a lot of assumptions and myths about Whole30 out there. Understandably so in this era of diets, social media and scrolling. To clear things up, here are some true facts about Whole30:
1. Itās not a diet. I know, this sounds like a gimmick to get you to keep reading but itās true. Itās a reset. Itās a science experiment. Itās a jumping-off point. Itās a way to think about food *without* feeling guilty/ashamed/not good enough. Itās a mindset shift.
2. Ditch the scale. Weight loss isnāt the focus of Whole30, nor is calorie counting or restriction. The vast majority of folks experience weight loss during Whole30. They also are able to notice and appreciate the myriad of other positive benefits because weight loss isnāt the focus!
3. Itās 30 days + reintroduction. Thatās it. Itās not Whole30 all the time. Itās not even Whole30 every single January for the rest of your life. Itās Whole30 ā> learn some stuff ā> use that knowledge to find normal and comfortable eating habits that make you feel your best. Hint: These will include things like treats and alcohol.
4. Eliminating foods on Whole30 isnāt about getting rid of them forever, itās about learning to incorporate them into your life in a way that still allows you to feel and look your best - whatever that means to you. Founder of Whole30, Melissa Urban, says it well: āHow much can I *get away with* and still look and feel how I want to look and feel?ā
5. Whole30 is an *individual* journey. I can tell you how W30 has affected me own life and the benefits Iāve seen but it wonāt be the exact same for you. You get to find out for yourself!
6. Last but not least, Whole30 is free to anyone who wants to try it. You donāt have to sign up with a coach. I didnāt, though W30 coaches werenāt a thing when I started š However, if youād like some help/support/accountability, Iām here for you! You donāt have to be in the Seattle area to join me. Back In 2019, I was featured on the Model Meals blog talking about my relationship with food and movement. Even though I'm not a full-time personal trainer anymore, I still love helping people with movement and the connection between their movement habits and their food habits. That's why I added workouts to my last Whole30 group, and plan to do the same for January!

Covid set me back in prepping for January Whole30 but Iām really excited to announce that I will be hosting a Whole30 group starting December 28th! Prep will start that day, and Whole30 will officially start on Friday, January 1st. It feels a little funny to officially start Whole30 on a Friday, but what has been normal about this year anyway??
Why do Whole30 now, in the middle of a pandemic and probably the most stressful year many of us have had? I could (and will, but not today) go into the logistics of why Whole30 right now may actually be easier than ānormalā but really what I want to say today is simply ācommunity.ā
I talked about this in April when I ran a group and nothing has changed. What I see and have experienced right now is a need for connection. A need to to have people to reach out to, to hold each other accountable, to tell us what to do sometimes.
And Iāll tell you what, when I was isolating for Covid last month I felt so incredibly grateful for my community. For everyone who dropped something off on my porch, everyone who had things delivered to my door, everyone who texted and DMād me with encouraging words, dog pictures, and love. Isolation would have felt very different without you all.
So, Iām inviting you to dive into my community! Letās do Whole30, together. Letās talk to each other about health and our goals and what we want to get out of this experience. Letās laugh about botched recipes, dreams about cookies, and accidental slip ups. Letās connect over food because I donāt know about you, but thatās one of my very favorite things to do.
