Creating a More Authentic World, One Girl at a Time YogaGirlz will have summer camps and can be an after-school program at your school or community center.

YogaGirlz is a program for girls age 3-18 that combines the elements of yoga with therapeutic games and activities that build self-esteem and guide girls in finding their authentic voice in the world. This week we focused on "TRUST" in yoga class. In trusting ourselves, we did Tree Pose with our eyes closed, and practiced Crow Pose. For trusting others, we did some partner poses, like Stacked Tables.

Stacked Tables (photo 3):
The bottom person comes to a seat with feet and knees hip distance apart. Hands are slightly behind the hips with fingertips facing forward. Lift belly button toward the sky. The top person then straddles the bottom person placing one hand at a time on the shoulders of the bottom person. Then lift one foot at a time and place above the knees of the bottom person. The key to this pose is lifting the bellies as high as you can so you both stay strong.

Pose of the Week: Crow Pose
Squat down with your heels up and your palms flat on the ground in front of you. Bring your knees into your armpits, your shins on your upper arms. Bend your arms to create a shelf. Slowly, lift one foot off the ground and then the other. Breathe into this strength pose that builds fire and confidence.

For those kiddos younger than 8, do crow with your feet on the wall.

Pajama Party Yoga Game: "Spin the Bottle" Laminate photos of various yoga poses and distribute in a circle. Grab an empty bottle and place in the center. Have a pair of die handy. Spin the bottle and roll the die. Do the yoga pose the bottle nose lands on and hold for the number of breaths shown on the dice. Have fun!
