Big thanks to everyone who came out to our goodbye event last week, it was a real treat to see many of our friends, both human and canine, as we close this chapter of Cycle & Coffee. If you weren’t able to make it, we hope to see you at 10am on Saturday 2/14 for our goodbye group ride - Partiful link in bio for details & RSVP!
We are so grateful for the generosity of those who donated to our GoFundMe to support the employees in this time of change (open through the end of the day on 2/14), and are feeling excited about the possibility of new ownership to keep this beloved community space alive.
Lizzie and Chase have kept on painting these sweet stripes around the building, and our team has been in and out of the space working to deep clean and restore the interior. The love towards this home of ours is palpable. We have hope it will continue on in some way!
We are still chatting with folks interested in taking over the shop. If owning a bike & coffee shop in Fremont is a pursuit that’s been tickling the back of your mind, please feel free to reach out at [email protected] to start the conversation.
Big thanks to for these lovely photos capturing this fleeting moment in time. It’s an honor to be captured through your lens.

Dear friends,
If you haven’t seen the news already, we are very sad to let you know that Cycle & Coffee is shutting down. We are no longer open for coffee & bike service, and we are now wrapping things up and saying our goodbyes. Our last day open was, unexpectedly, Thursday Jan 15th. We’ve received countless messages from folks sharing their love, gratitude and heartache, and requests for if there’s anything the community can do for our team or to save Cycle & Coffee from this fate. Thank you for your kindness and generous inquiries. We love you all so much and are forever changed by the years we have had together since we opened in 2018.
At this event, from 10am-2pm on Monday and Tuesday, former staff will be volunteering their time to serve up free drip coffee, cold brew and snacks, while supplies last. We will be accepting donations by cash, venmo, and gofundme (link below)which will be split evenly amongst our team to help our baristas and mechanics stay afloat as we seek new employment after the sudden closure. We will also have mechanics around at the event who can help you check out the inventory we have left and test ride bikes. Bikes, parts, and accessories will be 10% off, or 20% off with cash. You can view most of the bikes we have for sale here: https://www.cycleandcoffee.com/collections/bicycles
As for the saving Cycle & Coffee, the owner does not plan to reopen the shop due to personal and health reasons, but would be delighted to pass the torch to a new owner if someone want to revive this beloved community hub. If you or someone you know is interested in purchasing the business (lease, branding, assets etc.) please reach out to [email protected] sooner rather than later.
Event schedule and who is planning to be around to say goodbye:
Monday 10am - 2pm: Lizzie, Chris, Danny, Sam & Summer Tuesday 10am -2pm: Carissa, Ed, Danny, Lizzie & Summer

It’s project season! Customizing bikes is one of our favorite things to do in the winter. Whether it’s choosing every component for a frame-up build, finding ways to make your bike more comfortable, or adding pops of color and other details to make it feel your own, we’d be stoked to help you dream up and bring your project to life.
These photos are a few examples of bikes we’ve customized! Popular requests we get are:
- Drop bar conversions to turn 90’s mountain bikes into gravel bikes
- Adding a basket or rack to carry your stuff
- Installing fenders to keep you dry from the rain
- Changing to your preferred type and placement of shifter (ex: down tube shifters to bar-end, or grip shifters to thumb shifters)
- Swapping in more comfortable handlebars, saddle, or pedals
- Fresh tires or grips
- Getting kitted out with bags for commuting and bikepacking
- Getting rechargeable lights or even a dynamo front wheel for pedal-powered lights
Book a customization consultation with Summer on our website, or stop by the shop with your bike sometime to talk to one of our mechanics about your ideas! If you don’t have a bike yet, we can help you with that too as a starting point :)

Did you know we have a ton of breakfast options?? Some of our favorites are the breakfast tacos from The bacon, egg and potato is the most popular but we have a bunch of vegetarian options too!
The gluten free option has black beans, green chilis, eggs and cheese on a delicious corn tortilla.
Potato, egg and cheese sound just right? Try our veggie taco!
And for our vegans we have soyrizo, black beans and real avocado.
They all pair perfectly with either salsa, red (spicier) or green (less spicy)
Come see us for breakfast and coffee this new year!

I know it’s cold and wet but what if we just ride bikes together anyways? 🥹
We can drink cozy bevs, feel rain on our faces, enjoy the miracle of being alive, and get each other thru the long dark!
It’ll be a bonding experience. A cold plunge but without the swimming. Leave 2025 with a wet slosh. You don’t even need fenders, just acceptance.
See ya there!!!!

It’s customized build season at the shop! Here’s a Surly Ghost Grapple we recently built up for Kevin, who loves mountain biking and wanted the right bike to get out on rugged singletrack bikepacking adventures with friends. We had a lot of fun building it and love the .and.go.slow bar tape and the Sword integrated dropper lever on the left side brake lever.
We are currently working on another Grappler build that we are stoked to share, and have the same frameset in purple/medium hanging on our wall, ready for the right person to snag it.
Feel free to email us with your bike project ideas and come by to chat with Summer about a customized build on a new or vintage frame - we’ve got a good selection right now :)
