We can’t wait to see you this Saturday at Walk for Rice (walkforrice.org)! Thank you to everyone walking, donating, fundraising, volunteering, and showing up for the ACRS Food Bank and our communities.
This year’s festivities will take place on the north field by the Torii Gate at Seward Park, just north of the park entrance. Look for the giant “WFR” letters and our registration tent, which opens at 8 a.m. Our program starts just after 9 a.m.
Parking and Shuttles
Please arrive early to allow time for parking. (bit.ly/WFR_Parking)
Free parking will also be available at the ACRS Main Building [3639 Martin Luther King Jr. Way S.]
Free shuttles will run between ACRS and Seward Park. The first shuttle leaves ACRS at 7:30 a.m., with shuttles running about every 20 minutes. The last shuttle back to ACRS leaves Seward Park at 12:30 p.m.
Walk Route
The walk starts and ends at the Torii Gate and follows the lower loop around Seward Park, with beautiful views of Lake Washington and Mount Rainier. (bit.ly/WFR_Route)
The route is 2.4 miles and paved. It is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs when accompanied by another person. It is not recommended for walkers or rollators. Seating will be available for anyone not walking the route.
Running is optional. Registered walkers do not need to check in unless making a donation or picking up keepsakes. For everyone’s safety, bicycles are not allowed on the walk route.
A special shoutout to some of our leading fundraising teams and fundraisers so far: Team Blaine / Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church, Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple, Presby Dango, Teagan Godby and Phoebe Naguit. Thank you for bringing so much heart and momentum to this year’s Walk for Rice!

"I shall be more helpful to our community” is part of our Black Belt oath and Kim's TKD has a long history of giving back to the community. Kim’s Tae Kwon Do is fundraising and walking in the Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS)’s Walk For Rice. Walk for Rice supports the ACRS Food Bank. It provides culturally familiar foods like rice, tofu, noodles and fresh produce like bok choy to Asians and Pacific Islanders (and anyone experiencing food insecurity) in the Seattle area. In 2025 the ACRS Food Bank distributed over 993,000 pounds of food and reached over 4,900 people.
The campaign is happening now and ends in a multicultural celebration and three-mile walk at Seward Park on Saturday, May 16. Click on the link if you or your family are interested in registering to walk with us or would like to donate (OR BOTH!). Just to make it more fun and competitive, the Kim's TKD school that exceeds their fundraising goal by the largest percentage will win a pizza party! Mr. Kusumi will be our onsite contact person and will be hanging out behind the stage at 8:30 and will head out for the walk at 9.

The countdown is on—just **2 weeks** until Walk for Rice! 🎉
There’s still time to register for this special day on **Saturday, May 16 at Seward Park**. Gather your team, invite your friends, and help us raise vital funds for the ACRS Food Bank and nutrition programs. Together, we can continue providing nutritious, culturally familiar foods to those who need it most—especially seniors and children.
Be part of this meaningful tradition of community, compassion, and giving. 💛
We can’t wait to walk with you!

Congratulations to our students that promoted over the weekend. Grandmaster Henkel shared the shortcut to becoming better faster: correct your mistakes immediately and do not repeat them. Obviously this is easier said than done but mastering this is a superpower that will make you excel in TKD, school, work, and life.
