I used to think I had to be full on coach with my clients and not get too friendly so clients would see me as a professional.

I think this stemmed from me being a teacher to high schoolers.... but the cool thing is— you can be seen as a professional and also a friend
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BC I avoided the friend zone for so long I missed out on deeper connection points with my clients. I missed out on opportunities for them to be vulnerable with me. I missed out on getting to know them as humans.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SO my relationship status with my clients as adapted over the years.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❌ No I'm not BFF's with my clients and give out my personal number or allow them to text me in the middle of the night
✅ I have boundaries and days off so that on my work days I can show up energetically for them and not feel burnout
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I have allowed myself to open up to my clients more over the years as I am a HUMAN working with a HUMAN. We our relationship is vital to their success.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a coach—you'll need to find what feels good for you with your own clients
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love the approach as being friendly and close enough to build connection and rapport but not letting clients have your personal number or if you're having a bad day, you still need to show up as a professional and be on your game for them.

It's all about BALANCE. Drop a "YES" if you agree.

STOP OVERCOMPLICATING IT

If you need help in figuring out what works for your clients...just ask them

Want to stop hoping X strategy will work?
Want to stop wondering if what you say will actually "stick?"
Want to stop searching for what will motivate them more?

If you want you to unlock what's going to work best for your client.....you need to be communicating with them
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼 Your client knows more about their life and situation than you do
👉🏼They need to be given the TIME, SPACE and ENERGY to brainstorm and reflect about what WILL work for them
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This happens by you asking the right questions and guiding them to come up with a plan they can take ownership of 😤

The scale is literally just weighing the "matter" that is on it. It's literally JUST your relationship with gravity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know if the matter that is on the scale is fat, muscle or is water weight from glycogen/carbs (glycogen stored in your body is bound to 3 or 4 grams of water!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know if you're sore from your workout and there is a breakdown of muscle tissue that occurs to protect you
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know if you had a salty meal which increases the amount of fluid in the body, outside the cell! This increase happens to allow the body to continue retaining sodium and fluid while excreting higher levels of sodium in your urine
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know if the matter it is weighing is food in or out of your digestive system or if you're constipated
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know how late you ate your last meal and how early you got up
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know you had alcohol the night before which slows the digestion of other substances and takes longer for your body to eliminate
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣The scale doesn't know if you're stressed which can cause cortisol to increase which directly impacts the amount of fluid you retain
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👏🏼Your *daily* weight actually doesn't matter because there are SO many variables 👏🏼

WEIGHT LOSS IS NOT LINEAR! (this needs to be written on my tombstone someday) as I will die on this hill! 🪦
