A Chat with Natalie Walker, Executive Director of the Rain City Rock Camp for Girls 03/08/2018

"I think music has always been a safe place and a refuge for folks who feel marginalized because of their gender or gender expression. I see music as continuing to be the leader in this regard. I think the gender binary will become less and less of a constraint, and what a better place to bust out of those preconceived notions than in music, performance and expression." - Natalie Walker

Paulette Long, director of PRS for Music, the UK’s leading music rights organisation, says: “To find the space to do exactly what you want to do and not hit your head on the [glass] ceiling – that is clearly there – you go it alone.”

'We need fair representation': the rise of female-led record labels Independents can offer greater artistic control than big players, and those founded by women are helping to counter the industry’s gender disparity
