Getting in some twilight strides after work 🤙
After running my first 100km race back in mid-July, I’ve been in recovery mode for the past few weeks and slowly starting to build back up my fitness. In some ways, it’s been bizarre to see how suddenly paces that were easy for me to hold for hours a month ago aren’t anywhere close to being in my wheelhouse right now. But, at the same time, that’s part of what I love about running - the simple, straightforward connection between putting in the work and seeing how your body and your abilities develop by consistently showing up.
I’d be lying if I said it was always easy to listen to my body; to resist the urge to push my easy paces when I’m building up my base. But, I’m trying to be graceful in recognizing that I can’t force fitness. To appreciate the downtime as much as the buildup. To be stoked about where my baseline is, now, and to see how far I can go in this next cycle.
