The Robin, the Pretzels, and the Patterns We Don’t See 04/16/2026

Last week I wrote about patterns and how easy it is to stay stuck in them.

This is Part 2.

Because even when we do recognize them…

“I know why I do this.”
“I see the pattern…”

And still… nothing changes.

That’s the frustrating part.

But it also makes sense.

Because insight isn’t what our system is organized around.

Safety is.

And until something feels safe enough…

the pattern stays.

Save this if you have ever cried in a healing session.

Many women apologize when they start crying in an EFT session.
They wipe their eyes and say something like,
“I’m sorry, I don’t know why I’m crying.”

But tears are often a very natural response when the nervous system begins to soften.

Many of the women I work with have spent years holding everything together. Being responsible. Being strong. Pushing through stress, expectations, and emotions without much space to process them.

When the body finally feels safe enough to slow down, what has been held inside can begin to move.

Crying is not a sign that something is wrong. It is often a sign that the nervous system is releasing tension and allowing emotions to process.

Your body is not breaking down. It is letting go of what it no longer needs to carry.

This is one of the reasons safety is so important in healing work. When the nervous system feels supported, emotions can move through in a way that feels natural instead of overwhelming.

Tears are not weakness. They are often part of the body returning to balance.

If you have ever experienced this in a session or even on your own, you are not alone. I would love to hear if this resonates with you.

You Don’t Need Just One Tool to Feel Safe in Your Body 04/01/2026

You don’t need just one tool to feel safe in your body.

Tapping is powerful — it’s one of the most effective tools I know for settling the nervous system, recognizing patterns, and shifting emotional energy.

But it’s not the only way we regulate.

Recently, I was reminded of something called TREATIES — a framework that looks at how the body experiences safety through things like:

• temperature (warmth, cooling, holding a cup of tea)
• rhythm (tapping, walking, humming, rocking)
• environment (light, space, sound)
• attention to pleasure (what actually feels good in your body)
• touch (a blanket, a hand on your heart, gentle contact)
• interoception (noticing breath, heartbeat, internal sensations)
• exteroception (looking around and orienting to where you are)
• social engagement (being with someone or in a space that feels safe)

What I love about this is the reminder:

Regulation isn’t one tool.
It’s a system.

And over time, the goal isn’t to need a technique every time something feels off…

It’s to build a body that knows how to come back.

If this resonates, I wrote more about it here:

You Don’t Need Just One Tool to Feel Safe in Your Body In my last post, I shared a moment where I felt off — discombobulated — and how I was able to come back.

Many people believe that emotional healing means revisiting every painful memory in detail.

They imagine having to relive old experiences, reopen wounds, or spend long periods sitting in difficult emotions. For many women, that idea alone is enough to keep them from exploring healing work at all.

But healing does not have to happen that way.

Your nervous system does not need to relive trauma in order to process it. What your body actually needs is safety, support, and a pace that allows it to stay regulated while change happens.

When the nervous system feels overwhelmed or flooded, it naturally shuts down or protects itself. That is why approaches that push people too quickly into painful memories can feel exhausting or even discouraging.

When safety comes first, the process looks very different.
-The body begins to soften.
-Emotions can move without overwhelming the system.
-Old patterns can release in a way that feels steady and supportive.

Healing is not about forcing yourself to go back into pain. It is about helping your body feel safe enough to let go of what it no longer needs to carry.

If you are curious about a gentler approach to emotional healing, you are welcome to reach out and start a conversation with me.

Many parents focus all of their energy on helping their children feel safe, confident, and supported. What often goes unnoticed is how much children learn from the emotional environment around them.

Children are incredibly attuned to their caregivers’ nervous systems.

Healing yourself is not selfish. It is one of the most meaningful ways you can support the well-being of the next generation.ty or overwhelm feels like by watching the adults around them.

When you begin to work on your own healing, something powerful happens:
-Your reactions start to shift.
-Your nervous system becomes more regulated.
-Your home begins to feel calmer and more predictable.

Your children experience that change.

They learn that emotions can be processed instead of suppressed. They learn that stress can be managed. They learn what it looks like to take care of themselves.

Healing yourself is not selfish. It is one of the most meaningful ways you can support the wellbeing of the next generation.

If you are ready to explore this kind of work and create more calm and balance in your life and your family, you are welcome to reach out and start a conversation with me.

Many people try to create freedom by changing their thoughts first. They work on mindset. They try to think more positively. They try to control their reactions.

But real freedom often begins somewhere deeper.

It begins in the body.

When the nervous system feels unsafe or overwhelmed, the body tightens and braces. In that state, it becomes difficult to think clearly, feel calm, or make lasting changes.

When the body feels safe, everything shifts. Breathing slows. Muscles soften. The nervous system moves out of protection mode.

From that place, new patterns become possible.

This is why so much of the work I do focuses on helping the body feel safe first. When safety is present, healing does not need to be forced. Your system naturally begins to release what it no longer needs to carry.

Freedom is not something you push your way into.

It is something your body allows when it finally feels safe enough to soften.

If this idea resonates with you and you are curious about how this work might support you, send me a message. I would be happy to share more about working together.

You don't have to carry it all at once.

In this third 'in session' video, I'm sharing how we use a container to hold space for your experiences. This technique allows you to honor your story while choosing when you feel ready to revisit it.

My Healing Steps Method is about moving at your own pace to build safety and self-trust one step at a time.

Before you can change, your body must feel safe.

Most of us were taught that change comes from discipline.
Push harder.
Try again.
Be stronger.

But your nervous system does not respond to pressure the way motivation does.

When your body senses overwhelm, stress, or threat, it moves into protection. Fight, flight, or freeze. In that state, your system focuses on survival, not growth.

This is why so many people feel stuck even when they are doing everything they think they are supposed to do.
Your body is not resisting change. It is trying to keep you safe.

Real transformation begins when the nervous system feels regulated enough to soften. When safety is present, the body can release tension, process emotions, and allow new patterns to form.

This is why nervous system regulation is the foundation of the work I do. Tools like Conscious EFT help create that sense of safety so the body no longer has to brace against change.

Healing does not begin with force. It begins with safety.

What helps your body feel safe when life feels overwhelming? I would love to hear what works for you.

Your nervous system is always working to protect you.

When it senses too much stress, pressure, or stimulation, it moves into survival mode. That can look like anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, or feeling like your mind will not slow down.

Many people assume something is wrong with them when they feel this way.

In reality, your body is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

An overwhelmed nervous system is not a sign that you are weak or incapable. It is a sign that your system has been carrying too much for too long.
-The goal is not to push through it.
-The goal is to help your body feel safe enough to settle.

This is where nervous system work becomes so powerful.

When you learn tools that work with the body instead of against it, regulation becomes possible again. Your mind feels clearer, your body softens, and your reactions begin to shift.

This is the kind of work I guide women through every day.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, reactive, or constantly on edge, you do not have to figure it out alone.

Send me a message if you would like to learn how this work can support your nervous system and help you feel more like yourself again.
