• Admissions Northwest Mississippi Community College offers academic, career, and technical curricula leading to certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees; university-parallel courses and programs meeting the requirements of the first two years of a baccalaureate degree; and Workforce Development training designed to meet current and future workforce needs in business and industry. A complete list of program offerings may be found in the college Bulletin. General requirements for admission to the College include one of the following: a high school diploma, a passing score on the General Education Development Test (GED), 19 acceptable credits earned in high school of which at least 3 are English, or a transcript indicating that credit was earned by the student from another college or university. Certain programs have additional admission requirements which are listed in the Bulletin. Under certain conditions, a student who has received a Certificate of Attendance from high school may be admitted to enroll in either the Collision Repair or the Welding and Cutting program as outlined in the Bulletin. • Sports Northwest Mississippi Community College provides the opportunity to compete in various sports on the intercollegiate level. Varsity sports which are available for participation include: football, basketball (men’s and women’s), baseball, golf, rodeo (men’s and women’s), soccer (men’s and women’s) and women’s softball. Northwest is a member of the Mississippi Community/Junior College Association and the national Junior College Athletic Association. Rodeo is a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Regularly enrolled students are eligible to participate in intramural sports except those students who are members of related varsity teams. Northwest joins in mourning the loss of former three-sport athlete and 1992 Northwest Sports Hall of Fame inductee Darrel M. Arnold. Arnold played QB for the Rangers from 1953-54 and won All-State honors in baseball as a pitcher and shortstop.

MACJC Releases Statement on Fall Competition - Northwest Mississippi Community College Athletics

"The Region 23 representative to the NJCAA Board of Regents, upon the recommendation of the MACC presidents, voted to abstain from the final vote regarding moving most sports to the spring. While we are very concerned about the health and safety of our student-athletes, personnel, and fans, we believe they are best served by waiting for other conferences and organizations to make a final decision regarding fall sports."

Northwest distributes more than $1.4 million in CARES funds – Northwest Mississippi Community College

northwestms.edu A total of 2,185 Northwest Mississippi Community College students have collectively received over $1.4 million in emergency grant funds after Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act in March.

The MACJC has announced changes to the 2020 football schedule. Northwest will now tentatively begin the season on Thursday, Sept. 10 against Jones College.
