Hello everyone. I've just learned that the soccer field at the nike site will be closing in September of this year for renovations. I can't say that this page, the petition and the overall buzz it created had anything to do with it... but I like to think so.

The petition to has been extended to October 16th which is when the Shelton Parks and Rec department will meet again. We have 104 signatures, which is more than we could have ever hoped for, but we need more.

The Nike Site is home to hundreds of kids who gather to play, practice and grow from the age of 5 until they are off to college. It's not just another soccer field. Everyone who has ever played there has a story or a memory which they will never forget.

Let's so we can continue to make memories. If you have a memory and would like to share it, please do.

The area behind the goals at the Nike site have grown out of control and is fast becoming a graveyard for soccer balls. I have no idea how many balls are in those woods — and I am certainly not willing to find out. I was only brave enough to look for this one.

It's been one week since we started our petition and it appears our efforts hard beginning to pay off. New nets have been installed and the holes have been filled with new grass already starting to grow. Let's continue to .
