A busy day starting with my trio doing standing arms/lunge work. Focus and balance required! Planks are great... if you do them right😃 it’s a game changer in building strength. Practice, practice, practice = progress!
💪Do you even plank, bruh?! 🤓Planking is a great exercise that we see many people doing. There are several variations of good form in a plank. And then there is bad form. By planking with good technique you may be able to get even more bang for your buck! For example, there is a pilates-style plank (with a more neutral pelvis), or a gymnastics style plank (planche with a posterior tuck). . . We know from personal experience that there a few cues that really seem to help people get the most core activation. This is one of them! Regardless of your pelvic tilt, you can still apply this idea of dragging the hands back toward the feet. You aren’t actually moving the hands, or the body. You just press into the floor and try to pull the floor back to your feet (clearly you cannot, it’s just a way to activate). This should NOT result in a bearing down, or breath holding. It should simply recruit more activation from the core. . . As you can see in the image on the bottom it’s possible to plank with very little core activation if you have a huge anterior tilt and a relaxed core. Don’t do this. Studio C hosted a benefit for the animal hope and wellness foundation over the weekend🐶🤗 it was great to meet some of the volunteers who take care of the rescue dogs. All the dogs in the photos need a home! These dogs are from Cambodia, Korea, China... been through a lot but all very sweet🐶❤️
