Power & Grace is so proud to welcome our acclaimed faculty of master teachers and our dear friends.

MARY BETH ARRINGTON, Director of City Ballet of Houston
Ms. Arrington received her early dance training from in Virginia where she studied at Chautauqua Institute, School of American Ballet, and North Carolina School of the Arts. At seventeen, Ms. Arrington joined the Tulsa Ballet Theatre where she performed many roles as a demi-soloist. Ms. Arrington became an Artist in Residence and instructor with Margo Marshall and City Ballet of Houston in 1992. While in residence, she had works created for her by such choreographers as Michael Uthoff, Luis Fuente, and others. Ms. Arrington also guested as a soloist with Reno Ballet Theatre, Twin City Ballet, Bartlesville Civic Ballet, Texas Dance Theatre, Chrysalis Dance Company, Sandra Organ Dance Company, and Ballet Arkansas.
Internationally, she performed with the Duchy Ballet in Cornwall, England and was invited to teach and serve as a guest artist with Ballet Adriatico in Italy. As an instructor, Ms. Arrington has worked with City Ballet of Houston for many years where she now serves as Artistic Director. Known for her unique ballet choreography and restaging skill, Ms. Arrington has guested as a master teacher in schools across the country. In 2008, Ms. Arrington graduated Suma Cum Laude with a BA in English Literature and History. She serves as a dance panelist with the Cultural Arts Council of Houston.

ALEXEI CHAROV, The School of Pennsylvania Ballet
Born in Yoshkar-Ola, Russia, Mr. Charov began his ballet training at age nine and graduated from the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg – home of the famed Russian ballet traditions. Alexei started his professional career at the age of seventeen at the Donetsk Opera and Ballet House in Ukraine. He began touring nationally and abroad and enjoyed great success, quickly building a rich classical repertoire. In 1991, he moved to the United States and continued his performing career with the Indianapolis Ballet (Cavalier in Nutcracker, Hilarion in Giselle, Pas de Esclave, Zuniga in Carmen). In 1996, he joined Pennsylvania Ballet and started adding a wide collection of Balanchine works to his range. He is now serving as a faculty member of The School of Pennsylvania Ballet. Mr. Charov teaches master classes and stages classical performances and original works around the country and internationally. In 2016, Mr. Charov received a Bachelor’s degree in choreography, directing, and teaching. In January of 2018, he completed his Masters in Fine Arts and Pedagogy.

ALANA MARTIN, Instructor of Dance, OCU School of Dance & Entertainment
Alana Martin is an Instructor of Dance and holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance degree from Oklahoma City University. Ms. Martin is a style coordinator for Theater Dance and Rhythm Tap as well as an instructor of Jazz, Tap, and Theater Dance. She serves as the director of the OCU Peppers (pep dancers), and has been Jo Rowan’s assistant director, choreographer, and master teacher for the American Spirit Dance Company international tour to Taipei, Republic of China.
Her choreography can be seen in OETA’s weekly program, Gallery, the Awards for Excellence Ball, and the American Spirit Dance Company’s domestic and international tours. She also produced choreography performed at the 2007 Tournament of Roses parade VIP Banquet at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pasadena, California. Ms. Martin’s musical theater choreography credits include West Side Story, Kiss Me Kate, Secret Garden, The Music Man, Cinderella, and Seussical Jr. She has taught master teacher workshops in numerous states and has also been a guest judge and teacher for Dance Masters of America.

THOMMIE RETTER, Retter Entertainment
Thommie has enjoyed success working with a variety of dance organizations including Dance Makers Inc, Tremaine Dance Conventions, Dance Masters of America, Dupree Dance Expo, MusicWorks Teacher Training Seminars, Al Gilbert Teacher Training Seminars and countless independent schools across the United States. Internationally, he teaches dance and theater throughout Canada, as well as El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Japan. In 2008, Thommie made the move from Los Angeles to New York to make his Broadway debut in Billy Elliot The Musical. In the 3 ½ year run Thommie had the thrill of performing in front of more than 1.5 million enthusiastic theatergoers. When the curtain closed, Thommie returned to everything else he loves including sharing his love of dance and music. Thommie has ongoing classes full of child celebrities from TV, film and stage. Thommie’s students have appeared in a variety of Broadway shows including; Matilda The Musical, Annie The Musical, Kinky Boots The Musical, The Assembled Parties, Newsies, Fly and the US touring company of Billy Elliot The Musical. Mr. Thommie has a keen sense for locating the finest talent available, a heart overflowing with joy and a passion for the entertainment business like no other.
