WEEKEND RECAP 🐾 | 2-2

This weekend tested us in more ways than one.

We had guys battling injuries, lineups shifting, players being asked to step into different roles, and moments that didn’t go our way. But adversity has a way of showing you where you are—and where you still need to grow.

We walked away 2-2. And while we always compete to win, losing is learning when you’re willing to do something with it.

Learn from the mistakes.
Learn how to respond.
Learn how to pick up the guy beside you.
Learn how to keep competing when the weekend doesn’t go according to plan.

The standard isn’t measured only by the scoreboard. It’s measured by how you respond when things get hard.

We’ll get our guys healthy. We’ll take the lessons. We’ll get back to work.

From Elite player to Elite instructor. Welcome back, Dariel Villaran. 👊

Dariel brings more than 100 collegiate games of experience from Erskine College, USC Sumter and Francis Marion University—and he didn’t just play at that level. He produced.

At the plate, Dariel finished with a .300+ career average, .400+ on-base percentage and .430 slugging percentage. Behind the plate and in the field, he recorded a .987 fielding percentage across 686 chances.

That’s a player who understands how to impact the game on both sides of the plate. He’s competed, adjusted and performed at the college level, and now he’s bringing that experience back to help develop the next generation of Elite players.

First up: **Catching Clinic this Monday, August 31.**

There was something pretty cool about the boys driving to the field this morning and seeing their team up on the sign along the way. These are the moments that remind them there are people beyond the dugout cheering them on.

Perfect Game continues to showcase outstanding youth baseball, and Upstate South Carolina showed up in a big way!
Congratulations to every team earning a Top 10 finish in the final points standings. Your hard work, talent and dedication continue to put the Upstate on the map!
The teams featured in this graphic earned their national rankings out of 3,192 total teams competing in the Perfect Game 12u AAA & 12u AA classifications. Their accomplishments are something to be proud of!

Some moments are bigger than baseball.

This weekend, several of our players had the opportunity to spend time with MLB legend Kenny Lofton.

For these boys, it wasn’t just about a picture.

It was a chance to meet someone who competed at the highest level of the game, hear his perspective, and be reminded of what’s possible through hard work, discipline, and consistency.

Experiences like these matter.

Because while we’re working to develop better ballplayers, we’re also working to develop young men who are eager to learn from those who have walked the path before them.
