Changing your behavior WILL NOT get you lasting results.

>> Last winter, I went to a Tony Robbins UPW event and came home completely excited and inspired to live a healthy lifestyle.

I committed to going to the gym. Hired a personal trainer. Revamped my diet!
Then COVID hit. And I didn’t work out for over four months and my diet fell off the tracks.


Because all I did was change my behavior.

It got me results for a short while, but when the pandemic disrupted what I was doing, I went back to my old ways.

I learned that to have a lasting change, you have to go deeper than behaviors and first change your beliefs and your internal representations. (Yes, this is totally possible!)

Maybe like me you’ve tried to get healthy, and stuck with it for a while, only to slowly slide back into old habits again and again.

It could be that you have beliefs of “being unworthy of your ideal body” or that “my family won’t love and accept me if I’m a healthy weight.”

Most of these beliefs occur at the subconscious level - meaning you don’t even realize you’re thinking them!

If you could trigger ANY emotion at ANY time, what would it be? 🤔

✔️ Confidence?

✔️ Gratitude?

✔️ Joy?

You can! There is an NLP technique called Anchoring that allows you to trigger an emotion whenever you want.

Here’s how it works. We’ll use Confidence as an example.

Imagine a time when you felt totally, completely confident in yourself. Really imagine this time, and when you get to the peak of that confident feeling, press an external trigger point. (For example, a knuckle or the spot right behind your ear.)

Every time you feel confident, touch that trigger point and hold for a few seconds so it keeps growing stronger.

Then the next time you have a meeting where you want to feel that confidence, simply touch your trigger point to access it.

It’s true. I no longer believe putting in more work is the path to success.⁠

“Self-care is so important!” *insert eye-rolling followed by a good dose of guilt*

As women, we’ve heard the lecture on how we can’t take care of others if we don’t take care of ourselves at least a few thousand times.

You know you have to take care of you.

But that doesn’t make it any easier.

And it doesn’t mean you don’t want to knock someone on their butt when they tell you to add self-care into your routine when you’re already doing way more than you can handle every day.

Here’s where most people get it wrong.

Self-care doesn’t have to be a “thing” that you declare or a super thought-out activity that requires a babysitter, money, and a small army to pull off.

Self-care can be as simple as pausing to check in with yourself on what you need.
Without wondering if you deserve it.

Or asking for anyone’s permission.

Example: You’re working from home, a project is due yesterday, your kids have questions on their homework, your phone is beeping constantly with messages, and you’re starting to think:

“This is too much.”

When that thought creeps in, ask yourself, “What do I need?”

Is it a 15-minute walk to catch your breath?

5 minutes of quiet so you can meditate?

A 10-minute pause so you can eat a snack and catch up on your favorite podcast?

A moment to chop veggies and prep dinner because it’s driving you nuts that it’s not done?

Whatever you need, do it.

Voila! Love, you just practiced self-care.

Do not feel guilty if what you need is not what your boss, your business, or your family needs.

I promise the world is not going to crumble if you do this. You can take care of it all when you get back.

Next, pay close attention to what you need. Is it walks? Meditation? Reading delicious books for fun? A nap?

You’ll notice patterns in what your body and soul are asking for. These patterns are what you should incorporate as regular habits in your schedule.

So you can be proactive and do your self-care before it starts to all feel like too much.

Sunday is always a big journaling day for me personally, too. Here is something I am reflecting on today. I’d love for you to join me:

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

“Discomfort is the currency of your dreams.”

The biggest risk I took as a leader was starting this coaching business.

Up until then, everyone knew me as the owner of Chelsea’s Boutique.

I could have played it safe and stayed there.

Where it was comfortable and familiar.

But this vision of working one-on-one with women on a deeper level, helping them reach their goals and create routines that they love, was always on my mind.

I tried to ignore it for a while.

I told myself I was already getting to empower women through the store, so that should be good enough.

But in my conversations with other leaders, I kept hearing the same thing over and over again:

“I’m successful. I have everything I’m supposed to want. But to be honest, I hate my schedule. It’s too much. I don’t want to do anything on my to-do list, but what choice do I have?”

Trust me when I say I’ve been there, felt that.

I knew I could help others find joy in their routine without sacrificing their success.

So I decided to take the risk, get uncomfortable, and start the coaching business.

There were many, many times where I felt like it would be impossible to start something new and so different from what I was known for.

Toss in a pandemic, and I almost quit.

But today?

I can say that I’ve helped 24 women reach their biggest goals and create routines where they are thriving, using their strengths, and loving their day-to-day.

My coaching business is growing. I’ve added new services to help women even more, like Reikki, Hypnotherapy, and NLP, and I love the work I get to do.

Nothing will require you to push past your comfort zone more than going after a dream. It takes a lot of self-development, a solid plan, dedication, and getting uncomfortable.

And it is so, so worth it.
