The earlier photo about STARTING and using the good stuff really resonated with you all! I also realize that there is another issue….most of us are not getting any younger and the amount of fabric that has been collected over the years is overwhelming!

What I DON’T want you to do is throw it away, or die on us and your family throws it away. I know you don’t want that!! Sadly, it happens!!

Have you heard of re-use centers? They are usually non-profits that accept your fabric and sometimes craft donations, then sell at a very discounted price to the public. Monies raised usually go to various charities. Here is a list of US locations, but not all. I know of a number that aren’t listed here, so Google for locations in your area!

The places I have visited or know of….Ragfinery, Bellingham, WA; Smart Art + Craft Supplies, Nashville, TN; STL Sewing Exchange, Florissant, MO; Scraps KC and Magpie Creative Reuse Collective, and The Sewing Labs in Kansas City. There are loads! Feel free to list any you know of below. Your local quilt guilds usually accept fabric as well!

I’m fortunate that folks have found me and will drop at my door or mail me boxes. I share with a lot of folks and have various outlets for mist of the ‘stuff’. This photo was a recent mailed box from a man who was going to throw away his mother’s feedsacks. A good friend sent him my info!! 😍😍😍

Working on our potato chip blocks that we hand cranked at our Lathrop Sew and Sews Guild meeting. Pressing into submission 🤣, squaring to 12 inches, with a few more blocks to construct that were not completed at the meeting. The goal was to have fun. The result will be a pretty and useful quilt for our philanthropy.

It was a busy month in May!! I did not have time to post the Retreat I attended at KC Quilt Retreat in Smithville with the Cottage Quilters. Super fun! Good friends, good food, and a Guild meeting in the middle featuring Bobbie and Barb from Prairie Point Fabric and Quilt Shop in Lenexa, KS. Very good program. Followed by the Quilt-as-You-Go Workshop, sponsored by the Lathrop Sew and Sews Guild. Notice a problem with my QAYG sample🤣. Did not even notice until I put it on my quilt ladder AFTER the show. Yikes. Whew! I blame my schedule!

We held our 2026 Lathrop Sew and Sews Guild Quilt Show last Saturday. I was lucky to both participate in the Demo and to help set up and take down. Courtney Schwantes was our amazing leader as the Show Queen Coordinator. I took lots of photos. I even placed in 2 categories. It was great fun. And I'm really glad it is over until next year. 🤣

Again, over-scheduled and under-timed😂. Since my last post I have made a quilted bow for my daughter, custom quilted my Guild Round Robin, quilted my Doxie UFO, attended a blissful quilt retreat and our Guild Meeting (shout out to Prairie Point Fabric Quilt and Fabric Shop in Lenexa, KS), ...then home to prepare for our Guild-sponsored Quilt-as-You -Go class (shout out to Barb Krieg), and finally on the home stretch for our Lathrop Sew and Sews Quilt Guild quilt show this coming weekend on May 30th. I am hoping to display the completed 2027 Lathrop Sew and Sews Opportunity Quilt as a Sneak Peek! I am just completing the quilting on that, a queen-sized bed quilt. It's a beauty, with humble thanks to the unknown maker--the top came from a donation of a beautiful flimsy to a local Thrift shop😯 beautifully pieced from quality quilt shop fabric. Oh, and I still need to get my stuff together for the hand crank sewing machine demo at the show. Whew!
