The Health Club is an art installation and multi-purpose venue space created by artist, Jack O'Hearn for The Birdsell Project. Located at The Commerce Center in South Bend, IN, it utilizes the site of the men's locker room of an abandoned health & fitness facility. Traces of the previous establishment can be found throughout, however, it's new focus on wellbeing is centered around acts of creativ

Sadly, the open mic event has been cancelled due to zoning issues with the Commerce Center basement. I apologize for the late notice and want to thank everyone who followed, posted about or shared this event. The Birdsell Project is working to remedy the issues as quick as possible. Hopefully The Health Club will be back in action again soon and it can continue it's mission of fostering community through creativity, generosity & play.

Dickie's performance was too good to be snapping photos, but I managed to get a few. What a great evening!

A few snapshots from last night's opening reception. It was a great turn out! The Birdsell Project has once again achieved the difficult task of turning an art opening into something people want to pay for and that neither the visitors nor the exhibiting artists want to end. Thank you to all who came out, all the resident artists, The Birdsell Project and everyone who was at all involved in the making of The Health Club , especially my valiant volunteers, Adrian, Audrey, Oliver & Christian, without whom it would not have been possible. If you missed opening night, open hours are free from 3-6pm Sat & Sun starting next week through October 14th. Remember, The Health Club is open for use. Come play games, make art, or use the stage for a rehearsal or jam session, and if you can, bring a donation of a non-perishable food item.
