Today, we worked on cutting angles with the left hook so we can get off line, to set up the right cross. Angles are everything when it comes to striking. If you’re interested in starting to train, or adding to your current skill set, contact us, and we will make it happen!!!

Tonight, I took one of my private lesson students to their breaking point. He could not go on, and had to quit for the night. This shouldn’t be a discouragement when this happens. I would much rather have this happen on the mats, then in a situation where your life depends on it.
Vince Lombardi said it best: “Fatigue makes cowards of us all”
The worst feeling in the world not being able to continue physically. But now that we’ve discovered where that is for this student, we just try and push past it a little bit more each time we train. And that, is how progress is made.

This morning I taught a private lesson on striking. It wasn’t very exciting or dynamic. I had the student work on the basics of moving, and then the basics of head movement. When a student first starts learning, there is nothing more important than getting the fundamentals down and perfected. Without a strong foundation, any house can fall. Learning isn’t always extremely entertaining or fun, but the rewards once the fundamentals are mastered are worth their weight in gold!

Old training in ECQC/unarmed tactics when I was a part of the 122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne. Almost 10 years ago. Still training, still learning. I have been studying combatives since 1999, and have no plans to stop anytime soon! Don’t ever stop learning! Onward and upward.
