Today 14 years ago I made a crucial decision.
I walked Into a life full of promises in pretty packaging. Those promises quickly slipping through the cracks into the floorboards, becoming a watercolor stroked in grief, loss, and sadness.
But that decision was the catalyst that delivered my two beautiful children into my world, and an instrument in connecting me to my inner knowing.
My kids and I celebrate this day each year as a family holiday. We call it, “the day we became ours.”
The decision I made on this day eventually required a loss of love, but I gained three more loves. Me and my two kids.
I don’t see it as a day that resulted in a failed marriage, but a day that was a wild success. I hold a sacred space for that decision.
My kids are unexplainable love that never runs out, that seeps into mundane moments, and produces the intertia to move forward in the difficult situations.
I thought I’d be the one teaching my children about life, but they’ve taught me what life is all about.
I love you Briggs and Jettie.
Thank you for choosing me to be your mom.
…And happy “our” day! ❤️
