One of the 5 senses. If you are trying to relax your brain, close your eyes for a few minutes. Even if your mind is still racing, shutting down the eyes decreases brain and body stress - whether you feel it or not.
You open your eyes and see the world, but are you conscious of the fact that you are doing so? You opened Instagram, saw this post, and now you're reading this caption. Hello, reader. I like your shirt. Your hair looks really good, too. That you've interpreted what you just saw and have taken it as a compliment is an example of visualization, a.k.a. "Hurrah! You can see things."
Visualization is something we take for granted. You open your eyes and expect the world to appear around you. Don't lie, you totally do. In fact, you weren't consciously aware you were seeing things until I just reminded you 10 seconds ago.The retina is a layer of nervous tissue in the interior of the eye, continuing into the cranium as the optic nerve. The white of the eye is the sclera, and the transparent part of the eye is the cornea. The iris is the pigmented portion (where we determine eye color), and behind the iris is a lens that focuses light to form an image on the retina (remember: the image on the retina is inverted!). Between the cornea and iris is a chamber filled with fluid called the aqueous humor, and between the iris and retina is a chamber filled with fluid called the vitreous humor.

I agree and I also used to teach kids and I allowed them to have a two word check in (light and dark). Not to just honor the light and beauty etc, but these kids are also holding in other parts of their humanity. The "negative" but very real feelings, experiences. My son taught me that I was not living in the real world. He was right. There is so much more going on and we must listen to our children. Otherwise, when you say "mindful" the buzz is all about the beauty, but what about what children at not saying. We must wake up and listen more. Dont try to gloss over the hard parts.
"Mindfulness" is a common buzzword these days, but new research shows that it has the ability to alter brain activity, enhancing both academic performance and mental health in middle schoolers.
Totally support this. I’m sick of the over use BS around “mindfulness” like it will wipe out social infectious stress. There’s a lot of it today.
Stay strong. In body, discipline in mind and create time for your spirit/soul.

Lymph derives from interstitial fluid that surrounds the cells of body tissues. This interstitial fluid comes from the bloodstream, as capillaries exchange substances with tissue cells and fluid leaves the capillaries. Much of the fluid reenters the capillaries directly. The rest moves into lymphatic capillaries and vessels as lymph. Lymph is clear and colorless and contains white blood cells. The white blood cells can destroy pathogens and remove some unwanted substances from the interstitial fluid as it flows toward lymphatic tissues and lymph nodes. Here, concentrations of white blood cells called lymphocytes are added. Lymphocytes fight bacteria and other pathogens before the lymph flows back into the bloodstream.

The left and right common carotid arteries are the principal arteries of supply to the head and neck. Although they have the same branches, they differ in length and point of origin. The longer left common carotid artery is the second branch of the aortic arch, while the right arises from the bifurcation of the brachiocephalic trunk behind the right sternoclavicular joint.

When you see a heart attack in a movie or TV show, it’s usually a dramatic event—clawed hands clutching a chest, groaning, and then a twisting fall to the floor. Which… well. Take that with a grain of salt. A heart attack is caused by a blockage, usually a build-up of plaque, in an artery that prevents blood flow and oxygen from reaching the heart. The longer the heart doesn't receive blood, the greater the damage to it. In many cases, people don’t even know they’re having a heart attack.

...on aging, wear and tear....
Cervical spondylosis is largely caused by degeneration that occurs with age. Over time, the cartilaginous discs sitting between the vertebrae lose height; that is, their squishy centers dry out and they can bulge or become herniated. If disc degeneration causes vertebrae to become too close to one another, bone spurs can form. Increased pressure on the facet joints of the spine can also cause inflammation characteristic of arthritis.

Love this! You have one of these. Its good to know at least a little bit about it.
The cranial nerves are 12 pairs of nerves that pass through small holes at the base of the skull. These nerves are responsible for carrying information and connecting the brain to different parts of the body (sensory organs, motors, muscles, organs, etc.)
In the specific case of the cranial nerves, what makes them unique and special is that they emerge directly from the brain without passing through the spinal cord. That is, they are located in the lower part of the brain and go through holes at the base of the skull to reach their destination. Interestingly, these nerves are not only directed to areas such as the head but also extend to other parts such as the neck or the thoracic area (vagus nerve).

Good article ...not all stress fractures right away, they happen over time.
Not all fractures happen in a single instant. Stress fractures, for example, are hairline cracks caused by overuse. Here you can see stress fractures in the tibia. The foot and ankle are common sites of stress fractures in athletes whose sports require frequent repetitive, intense motion such as running or jumping. In the case of the tibia, the muscles of the lower leg eventually become too fatigued to absorb the shock, and the bones “take over” instead. The result is tiny fractures on the bone.

When GABA and glutamate are in harmony, the brain can function optimally. However, many factors can throw this balance off. In our modern, urban world and fast lifestyles, GABA often takes the toll. When the mind is constantly activated, under stress, or anxious, glutamate increases, GABA levels drop and so does stress resilience.
GABA is especially high in the amygdala, the brain’s gateway for generating fear in response to danger. In anxiety, the fear response is increased without any real danger. GABA decreases the fear response in the amygdala and reduces anxiety.

Antibiotics were first discovered when Alexander Fleming noticed mold (Penicillium notatum) inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Pharmaceutical antibiotics were later developed but most have harmful side effects. The overprescription and misuse of pharmaceutical antibiotics have led to many bacteria developing antibiotic resistance. Fortunately, there are many naturally occurring antibiotics with few side effects.
Hydrate. Exhale, Inhale and hydrate. Its that simple.
Carbon dioxide is everywhere around us and our bodies are constantly at work to balance its concentration in our blood. However, some illness or other factors can throw off this balance and cause respiratory acidosis or hypercapnia, when our blood becomes too acidic from too much carbon dioxide. Read on to learn more about how and when this balance is disrupted and what you can do about it.
Gradual degeneration or a sudden truamatic event can tear one of the muscle tendons of the rotator cuff. Symptoms of this injury include pain, decreased range of motion in the shoulders, and muscle weakness.
Rotator cuff tears usually occur at the insertion point on the head of the humerus, so that the tendon will no longer fully attach to the bone. This injury is commonly seen in athletes such as tennis players, swimmers, and baseball pitchers.
