Thank you to this awesome crew for doing an amazing job participating in the KAT Challenge today! 🚮 They came ready for competition! 💪 We appreciate them looking out for trash during the trip and also making sure the area looked better than they found it when we all left! 👏 🎉

Our winner 🏆 today was Randy!! Randy did amazing looking for trash and came back with TWO bags of trash!! 💪 He looked the entire trip and was named the trip winner at the end!! 🙌🎉

We had a great kick off to the week with some wonderful people! We had plenty of time to relax, and plenty of time to play! It was a hot sunny day and the cold water at the waterfall felt amazing! 🤩 It was the perfect day to spend enjoying Center Hill Lake and Burgess Falls 🎉

* 9.14.26 **You cannot paddle the full way to the bottom pool..I carry my own kayak up for our group to paddle around the bottom*** We parked our kayaks near the quarter mile mark and hiked up today due to the water levels. Remember that this waterfall is on a man controlled lake that is slowly brought down to winter pool starting in June. Rain doesn’t always equal higher lake levels. 🌧️

Our winner 🏆 today was Shelby!! She did an awesome job looking for trash today and collected absolutely everything she could find! 🚮 She was happy to take trash from others as well! She was named the winner at the end by group vote! 🎉

We had a wonderful Thursday at Burgess Falls! Plenty of wildlife to see, relaxing to the sounds of nature and playing in the cool water at the bottom! 🤩 We enjoyed plenty of adventure and lots of great conversations 💖 We had a such a blast with a fabulous group of people! Thanks y’all!

Today as we left the launch we saw a fish floating belly up, from far away it appeared to be a gar by length but to our surprise is was a rarely seen Paddlefish! 🤯 We showed our group and gave them some information about them and then set him back adrift in the water where he was. While it’s sad to see such an incredible creature in that state it’s a great opportunity to teach about all the lake holds and educate about how we can better protect our lakes and the creatures within it.

Fun Facts about Paddlefish (Spoonbill):

🐟 They can live up to 30 years (some recorded up to 50 years!), they can tip the scale at 200 pounds and be up to 7 feet long!!
🐟 The only bone they have is the jawbone, they are primarily made up of cartilage instead of bone.
🐟The paddle like snout it usually around 1/3 of its total body length. 😳

Happy Waterfall Wednesday!! 🙌 It was a beautiful day at Burgess Falls 👑 with new and returning kayaking family! 🤩 It was another hot day but we got some cloud cover at the end that helped on the way back! We had tons of fun playing at the waterfall and taking things slowly throughout the day 💖
