We’re looking for restaurants, home cooks, and home bakers to compete in:

If you’ve been thinking about signing your 1st–6th grader up for Flames Youth Basketball, tomorrow, September 22, is the last day to register at the early-bird rate!

We’re building our 1st–6th grade boys and girls teams for the upcoming season, and we need families to get registered so we can see where our numbers are and begin putting teams together. And if you register by September 22, you'll save $10!

This year, 6th graders have TWO options with the Flames.

🔥 Youth Rec Basketball:
For newer players, developing athletes, or those looking for a recreational environment to continue building their game.

🔥 Middle School Basketball:
For experienced 6th graders who are ready for a more competitive level of basketball with a bigger practice and game commitment.

There's no wrong answer. It just depends on where your athlete is in his or her development.

Our Youth Cross Country runners were back on the course September 15 at McCracken Middle School, and the Flames turned in another strong performance—with multiple Top-15 finishes and a whole bunch of season-best times!

🔥 2 WEEKS LEFT TO REGISTER! 🔥

Basketball season is coming up, and registration closes October 1st! 🏀

We’re currently registering middle school & high school boys AND girls for the upcoming Flames basketball season.

If your athlete is planning to play, don’t wait until the last minute! Getting registrations in now helps us know how many athletes we have in each division, whether tryouts will be needed, and gives our coaches time to start planning for the season.

📅 Registration Deadline: October 1

🏀 High School Boys & Girls
🔥 Tryouts will be held the following week if needed

Whether your athlete has played for years or is ready to try basketball for the first time, we’d love to have them be part of the Flames.

🏀 FLAMES BASKETBALL FAQ

Who can play?
Our competitive basketball teams are open to 7th–12th grade athletes, plus experienced 6th graders. Athletes must be homeschooled, attend a school that does not offer the sport, or have another reason they cannot participate through their school.

Will there be tryouts?
Tryouts will be held the first week of October for middle and high school teams if needed after registration closes. If there are enough spots for everyone who registers, everyone will make a team. (Our 1st - 6th grade recreational teams do not have tryouts.)

What does registration cost?
💰 $180 — and that covers everything, including uniforms, referees, equipment, facility fees, and more. We do have several fundraisers throughout the year to cover additional costs.

When are practices?
Practices begin in October. Practice days/times will be finalized after registration and tryouts based on facility, player, and coach schedules. Generally, practices are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

When and where are the games?
🏀 Games begin in mid-November and run through mid-February. Games are generally on weekday evenings, with no Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday games. 🏠 Home games are played at New Prospect Baptist Church. We do travel for away games, but our opponents are in the Upstate area. Our furthest trips are just over an hour away.

Can my athlete play another Flames sport?
Absolutely! Basketball practices may overlap with XC and baseball, but our coaches work together to accommodate athletes participating in back-to-back sports. Playing multiple Flames sports is not a problem.

Is attendance required?
Yes. Practices and games are generally mandatory, so families should be prepared for the commitment that comes with competitive basketball.

If your child wants to play basketball, there's a pretty good chance the answer is YES!

Flames Youth Rec Basketball is designed especially for athletes who are:
🏀 New to basketball
🏀 Still developing their skills
🏀 Looking for more game experience
🏀 Interested in playing for the middle or high school Flames teams
🏀 Seeking a Christ-focused sports environment
🏀 Ready to learn, compete, and have fun as part of a team

Beginners and players of all skill levels are welcome!

Our goal is to help young athletes learn the game, build confidence, develop fundamentals, and discover how much fun it is to be part of a team.

Our 2nd–6th grade runners hit the course at Dorman this week, and we couldn't be prouder of the way these young athletes competed!

Our new Youth Basketball program is growing, and that means we're going to need some great adults to help lead these teams!

We're looking for parent volunteers interested in coaching our Rec Basketball teams this season.

And no, you don't need to have played college basketball. 😄

We're looking for dependable adults who enjoy working with kids, can help teach the fundamentals of the game, and want to create a positive, Christ-centered environment for young athletes.

We'll provide support and resources. You provide the leadership and willingness to serve.

🏀 YOUTH BASKETBALL FAQ: When & Where are practices?

This has easily been one of the most common questions we've received since announcing Flames Youth Basketball!

Just like most youth sports leagues, we won't be able to finalize practice schedules until registration closes and we know how many teams we'll have. That allows us to coordinate team numbers, gym availability, coaching schedules, and the overall needs of the league.

🔥 Practices will generally be on weekday evenings
🚫 We do not have Wednesday practices planned
📍 Final days, times, and locations will be announced after teams are formed
