The Oakland A's/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp is proud to announce the addition of Baseball Hall of Fame member Goose Gossage to its 2019 coaching staff.

Rich ‘Goose’ Gossage, became the most dominant closer of his era playing 22 years in the Major Leagues from 1972 to 1994. He played for ten Major League teams over that span, including both the A's and the Mariners.
He was closer for the world series champion New York Yankees in 1978, when he grew his trademark mustache to piss off Yankee owner George Steinbrenner. Keith Comstock successfully represented Goose in an arbitration hearing after Padres owner Joan Kroc suspended him for insulting her hamburgers.
Goose was an All Star in 1975, 76, 77, 78, 81, 82,84 and 85. He achieved an earned run average of 0.77 in 1981. Respected for his impact in crucial games, Goose posted the final out to clinch a division, league or World Series title seven times.
He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.

Join Goose and the other members of our coaching staff:
Dave Stewart, Mike Moore, Brian Holman, Bert Campaneris, Keith Comstock, Shooty Babitt, Dallas Braden, Bobby Crosby, Greg Cadaret and Gary Wheelock.

at the 2018 Oakland Athletics/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp!

Jan.12-18 in Phoenix, Arizona!Bobby Crosby came to the Oakland A's with the task of replacing 2002 American League Most Valuable Player Miguel Tejada at shortstop. In 2004, his first full season in the majors, Crosby hit .239 with 22 home runs and 64 rbi. He led American League rookies in hits (130), doubles (34) and walks (58). These numbers earned Crosby American League Rookie of the Year honors, the sixth Athletics player to do so after Harry Byrd (1952), Jose Canseco (1986), Mark McGwire (1987), Walt Weiss (1988), and Ben Grieve (1998).

Jamie Moyer, one of the legends of Mariners history, will join us in Mesa this January.
With a record of 145-87, Moyer is the winningest pitcher in Mariners history. During the M's record-setting 116-win season of 2001, Moyer was 20-6. For the 2003 season, he was 21-7 and was selected to the American League All Star Team.
He was named the ninth member of the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2015.
Moyer is living proof that the art of pitching is more important then the velocity of your fastball. He was the master of location and a devastating change-up.
Moyer pitched twenty-five years in the Major Leagues, including eleven with Seattle. His overall record was 269 wins and 209 losses. At the age of fifty, in 2012, he became the oldest pitcher in Major League history to win a game.

Former Oakland A’s pitcher and current ESPN baseball analyst Dallas Braden will join the coaching staff of the 2017 Oakland A’s/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp this January. Drafted out of Texas Tech University in 2004 by the Oakland Athletics, Braden debuted with the Athletics in 2007. On May 9, 2010, Braden threw the nineteenth perfect game in MLB history when he defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in Oakland on Mothers Day. That same year, he threw four additional complete games including two shutouts en route to a career-best 3.50 ERA for the season. Dallas Braden joined ESPN in 2014 as a studio analyst. Braden was named to the Monday Night Baseball team shortly after the start of the 2016 season. Braden regularly contributes to Baseball Tonight (including Sunday Night Countdown), SportsCenter and additional ESPN news and information programming. For further information on the Oakland A’s/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp, call 509 993-7338. All early camp signups are invited to participate in a game at the Coliseum in Oakland on August 11.

Three-time All Star, four-time Gold Glove winner and two-time Silver Slugger winner Bret Boone will join the coaching staff of the 2017 Seattle Mariners/Oakland Athletics Fantasy Camp. Bret had his best years as a Mariner, but also has ties to the A’s. After retiring from his playing career in 2005, he returned to baseball during the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a scout and roving instructor in the Oakland organization, winning praise from Oakland officials for his contributions to the development of their minor league players.
“I’ve never been around a fantasy camp before,” Bret said when agreeing to coach in the 2017 camp, “but my dad does them in Philadelphia, and he tells me how much fun they are.”
When Bret broke into the Major Leagues in 1992, he became the first-ever third-generation big leaguer. He is the son of Bob Boone, who had a long catching and managerial career, and the grandson of Ray Boone, whose stellar Major League career spanned 1948 to 1960.
Bret is the author of the recently-published “Home Game: Big League Stories From My Life In Baseball,” a book about his family and his playing career.
The Seattle Mariners/Oakland Athletics Fantasy Camp will be held January 13-19 at the A’s spring training facility in Mesa, Arizona. Early signups for the camp are invited to play in a pre-camp game at the Coliseum in Oakland August 11. Both Mariners and A’s players are invited. For further information, call 509 993-7338.

We are very pleased to relay that John Moses, former Mariners player and coach, has been named manager of the Gwinnett Braves, the AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. John is a long-time coach and participant of the Seattle Mariners/Oakland Athletics Fantasy Camps, best known for his often repeated quote as a first-year coach regarding camper Billy Chung: “Billy! You’re killing me!” Dave Henderson Baseball offers John our most sincere congratulations.

The Oakland Athletics/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp will be held Jan. 11-19, 2017, at the Oakland A’s Spring Training Facility in Mesa Arizona. Our VIP package guests will arrive on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Our basic package campers will arrive Friday, Jan. 13. In addition to our regular coaching staff—which will include Bert Campaneris, Mike Moore, Brian Holman, Shooty Babitt, Keith Comstock and others—we are working hard to line up special headliners for both the A’s and Mariners staffs. We will make those announcements when those arrangements are completed. As always, the camp will honor the legacy of our founder, Dave Henderson, and strive to follow his guidance that we should “always have fun.” Please join us this January for the most memorable week of baseball in your life. For more information go to www.hendersonbaseball.com, or email [email protected].

[02/09/16]   ESPN.com has done a beautiful photo essay related to our 2016 Oakland A's/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp. The piece, which is entitled "For the Love of Hendu," is a fitting tribute to this event which Hendu created in order to demonstrate his mantra: "Always have fun." Please take a look. http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/14705162/for-love-hendu

2016 Oakland Athletics/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp

The 2016 Oakland Athletics/Seattle Mariners Fantasy Camp was a great success. We had some difficult times as we grieved the loss of our friend, but, as you can see from the photos, we laughed a lot, too. Fortunately, laughter is a great healer, so at least that process has begun. Hendu loved to laugh. He would have loved this camp, and he would have been proud of you all.

[12/27/15]   With sadness I cannot express, I want to let you all know of the passing of our friend Dave Henderson. Hendu died of a heart attack at his home in Seattle early Sunday morning. He was 57 years old. He was recovering from a kidney transplant that took place in late October. He was doing very well, and was looking forward to seeing everybody at our next camp. Our hearts go out to his wife Nancy and his sons Trent and Chase.
Fielding Snow and I met Dave on a baseball field 17 years ago, and in the time since, he took our lives in directions we never could have imagined. He was a man of great integrity and indomitable spirit. We were proud to call him our friend. Hendu appreciated and understood that his athletic talent afforded him a special place in this world and he never lost sight of how fortunate he was. And unlike many professional athletes, he embraced the fans who loved his game. If you loved baseball, then Hendu loved you. And his fans understood that. I will always remember walking through the Oakland airport with him well after his playing days were long past and having person after person greet him with warmth, and expressions of thanks for some way that he’d individually touched their lives; or of walking through the center field entrance with him at the Coliseum on a day the A’s were honoring him, and hearing the roar of 40,000 people calling his name.
His motto—the way he signed most of his autographs—was “always have fun.” And I have done my best in the years that I’ve known him to live my life that way. It’s just going to be difficult to follow that advice for the next few days.
Good ride, cowboy. Good ride.

[11/03/15]   The schedule for the DHBA Athletics in the 53-and-over division of the Roy Hobbs World Series next week is as follows:
Sunday-- vs. Dixie Braves
Monday doubleheader vs. Nova Scotia Monarchs
and Bridgewater Cardinals
Tuesday--vs. Long Island Athletics.
Thursday will be our seeding game and playoffs begin Friday.

In the 45's division, the PSOF Rangers, including Mike Murphey and Terry Lockhart, won both ends of their doubleheader
11-1 over the Lake Erie Bluejays and 14-8 over Victus Sports in 10 innings. A great day at the ball yard.
