Hello rowing friends,
In a stereotypical quarantine move, today I am launching my podcast CoxPod, which as the name implies is for coxswains, as well as coaches and rowers who interact with coxswains. I brought two brilliant and skilled coxswain friends in on this with me who many of you know, Anne and Sally, and we launched our first three episodes today. We have a legit website (https://www.coxpod.com!) where you can listen to each episode (you can also find us on any podcast app), and a page right here on Facebook where you can stay up to date on our content, as well as profiles on all other social media platforms. I'm really proud of our visual branding, which was massively supported by an artist who is a member of the rowing community, and who also happens to be a student at the university where I teach!

It’s called a power 10. It’s when the coxswain—that’s the person at the front of the boat—asks the rowers for 10 powerful strokes. Obviously the race is a lot longer than 10 strokes, and she knows that. But it’s a little much to ask for a power 1000. So she asks for a power 10. I’m asking you for a power 10 today. I’m asking you for the next 10 days to take a break from higher-risk activities."
