Wednesday Night Mountain Bike Races

Local Mountain Bike Racing that's fun for everyone. A different course every Wednesday, professional timing, random prize drawings sponsored by local bike shops.

[01/15/21]   Happy 2021! In the next day or so we will be checking with Parks as to whether they will be issuing permits for events. Cross your fingers, do a little dance or whatever for good luck so we can have some races this year!

2021 is coming! #nosh*tshows!

Happy Holidays you guys!

Wanna know what the Friends of Riverside State Park have done with some of your donations? How about a well for fresh water at the 7 Mile Airstrip!!! It's finally happening!!!!
Photo cred to Frank Benish!

Sigh. A beautiful night for a ride. Would have been the finale of the Series tonight. Can’t wait to see you all next year. Go wash your hands! :-)

Yay for our friends over in Idaho! Great races and a great cause! Please head on over to Farragut and support them!!!

We are now official! Permits are in place for Wednesday Night Mountain Biking at Farragut State Park July 15,22,29 and August 5 and 12. Same Tower Day Use Area, follow the signs for registration and car passes starting at 5:00 pm and first 2 lappers starting at 6:30 followed by the 1 lap riders at 6:40. We'll have snacks and water but with COVID this year, the traditional BBQ will be on hold. Still the same single track fun and proceeds go to area Youth Mountain Bike School Teams. So, bring the family for 5 Wednesdays of mountain bike single track.

[06/04/20]   It's a beautiful night. One Lappers would be finishing up and some of our two lappers would be coming in. Adults would be drooling in the beer garden and Juniors would be drooling over the prize table. I would much rather be out at Riverside State Park tonight, than sitting here posting about it on FB! Hope you are all having a wonderful night!

[05/21/20]   If it rains this hard every Wednesday Night until the end of June, it will take a little of the sting away of no races this year!

[05/14/20]   As I sit at home with my family tonight, I reminisce about past years. On a “normal” Wednesday Night in May or June, Gino and I would be sitting at our sponsor, The Flying Goat, winding down with some food and drink, discussing the evening’s events. We sure do miss you all! Hope you are safe and we can’t wait for next year!

[05/07/20]   Hey everyone. It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that the Wedenesday Night MTB Races are officially cancelled for 2020. We were given some restrictions that we would have had to operate within, that quite frankly would have taken the fun out of it for everyone involved. This was really just the final nail (out of many) in the coffin.

We appreciate your understanding of the situation. We are sure most of you are not surprised by this decision. We held out as long as we could.

Keep pedailing your bikes. Stay safe. We will be back in 2021 stronger than ever!

[05/06/20]   Well, today, which would have been the first race of 8 for the season, is going to come and go with no racing. The crappy weather makes it a slightly easier pill to swallow... it it still sucks.

No updates from Parks yet, so that’s really all we’ve got. Stay safe everyone! And get out and pedal!

[04/30/20]   Here's an update and some good news: We have talked to our friends in North Idaho who run the Bike 5 in July Series at Farragut. They have graciously "donated" the first 2 Wednesdays in July to help make our Series a 4 race Series instead of just 2. So our dates would be 6/17, 6/24, 7/1 and 7/8. Bike 5 in July would still be 5 races and just run into August. This is super generous on their part and we owe it to them to support them by racing in their Series when things conclude at Riverside.

Now, this is not a done deal. We are still in a holding pattern with State Parks. While they are opening back up on May 4, it still remains to be seen whether they will allow events such as ours to happen. We are working with Parks to make things happen, and can tell you that the Series this year will be a little different if we are allowed to go. We ask for your patience and willingness to roll with the changes.

Lastly, as Parks reopen, PLEASE be good stewards, follow the rules set in place, encourage others to do the same so that we can get back to doing what we like to do.

Thanks everyone...more to come soon!

Remember when we posted the pic on the left on New Years Day? But now it’s turned out more like the pic on the right? #noupdatesyet #damnyoucoronavirus

[04/06/20]   Hey everyone. Here is the latest update for Wednesday Nights 2020:
State Parks will not be approving ANY permits until June 15 at this time. Which means we are now down to a 2 race series. We are holding out hope that this will happen, but we are going to have to sit tight and wait it out even longer now.

We sincerely hope you are all staying safe and sane and finding some silver linings to this crazy mess we are in. Stay tuned....

[03/21/20]   Happy Saturday everyone. Hope you are all making the best of the current situation. Speaking of the current situation, here’s where we are at: Permit with Parks is on hold. Which obviously holds everything else up. We will be in constant contact with them about the hold and once we get a green light, everything will be fast tracked so we can get started as soon as possible. May dates look doubtful at this point. What we’re hoping for is a 4 race Series in June. If we can get better than that, we will. Hopefully it won’t be worse. Time will tell. Hang in there with us. Pedal your bikes, 6 feet apart!!! And we will keep you updated as we go.

Stay safe and healthy you guys!

[03/16/20]   Hey y’all! Obviously there is some doubt as to whether we will have a Series this year, whether it will start late etc, etc. Hopefully by May we will be on the downhill side of this crisis and we can get back to racing mountain bikes and buying toilet paper. Stay tuned for updates!

[02/20/20]   It's that time of year again! Gino and I are hard at work on this year's Series. We need sponsors to help keep our 18 and under crowd racing for free. The local teams keep growing, and we need all the help we can get! Send a PM if this is something you are interested in. And we'll help promote your business the best we can!

The season is coming!

Happy New Year everyone!

Off belay! Mountain Gear is closing after 37 years of outfitting outdoors adventurers

Sad to report that one of our longtime sponsors will be closing their doors in early 2020. Thank you, Paul, and Phil, for your support over the years. You will be missed. #pleaseshoplocal Mountain Gear, for decades the premier shop for technical outdoor gear, will shutter early next year, said owner and founder Paul Fish, 60.

[10/13/19]   Hope you’re all getting some great fall riding in. Hard to believe we are less than 6 months away from the 2020 Series!!!

[09/05/19]   Hey everyone. Hope your summer has been awesome. Just wanted to dispel any rumors. At one point there was talk of myself and Pat taking on the 24Hr Race. That is no longer the case. Round and Round is still moving forward with someone else to make the race happen, and we wish them the best.

[06/27/19]   Well, that’s a wrap! And what a fine wrap it was. Dodged the stormy weather, had a great race, good turnout, burgers, beers and beverages after. It was pretty near a perfect night. A very sincere thank to all of you racers, our sponsors, Pat for the sultry tones, and everyone else involved in making Wednesday Nights great for Mountain Biking. Enjoy your summer, fall and winter. See you again next spring!

[06/26/19]   Gonna be a great night for one final Wednesday Might MTB Race at Riverside. Come out, race, hang out with our friends from Vertical Earth. Then head to @River City Brewing for one last party. And have a burger from D. Lish's Hamburgers!

A quick note about tonight's race: While everyone will only do ONE LAP of the 24 hour Course, you will still register as your usual 1 Lapper or 2 Lapper Categories, for the purpose of points keeping.

And speaking of points, they have been updated and can be viewed by clicKing below, and then click on "2019 Points." Here’s how it works: You can register for the whole series as in the past. Save some money that way. Or you can register for individual races. ALL registration will be done electronically this year. This will ultimately speed up the registration process and eliminate manual data entry and the poss...

[05/22/19]   Gonna be another great night! Come join us and our friends from The Bicycle Butler for a spin around the 24 Hour Course.

[05/15/19]   Gonna be another great night out at the park. longer course tonight, and say hello to my little friend...5 minute hill!

Also, after yesterday's overwhelmingly YES responses about tech shirts and hoodies; we are building an online store as I type. Here's how it will work: You will still earn and get a t-shirt for doing the whole series or 4 or more races. If you would a tech shirt or hoodie, they will be an additional purchase in the online store. Will post the link as soon as we have it. We are excited for this added opportunity to show off Wed Night Clothing!

See you tonight!

[05/14/19]   Happy Tuesday! Question for you all...everyone who signed up for the whole series, or does 4 or more races, earns a free cotton blend t-shirt. Would you pay a nominal fee to upgrade to a tech style short, or even a hoodie? We have a very small window for this opportunity, so leave your response on the comments ASAP!
