Often as clinicians we neglect to nourish ourselves in the Sam way that we nourish our patients. The more we help others, the more we can forget to help ourselves. So once you are able to recall how certain experiences felt in your body, heart, and mind. If you have a hard time recalling a situation, consider small forms of nourishment. Bringing Lightness to work is important!
Often we miss opportunities to bring a light touch to aspects of our work amid the daily grind and the heaviness of clinical demands. Steps to bring lightness to working in healthcare can include:
1. Take a moment now to reflect on the past few days and identify some aspects of clinical work that had a potentially light or humorous aspect.
2. Recall what was involved- noticing what thoughts, emotions, and body sensations may have arisen at the time.
3. As best as you can, bring a light touch to the situation, give yourself distance, take a breath as you welcome humor / lightness as a counterbalance to heaviness in your day.
