Nothing In April of 2003, the Spackler Cup is a trophy born from the creative minds of Taylor Sorenson and Jason Davis. Taylor and Jason win in a putt-off.
The trophy is a tribute to golf's most famous and important greenskeeper, Carl Spackler, of Bushwood Country Club. The Cup symbolizes all that is good about golf--hanging with good friends, playing the game, and especially drinking lots of beer. The Spackler Cup matches have been contested 6 times using a match play format pitting Doug Read and Ryan Davis (the Americans) against Taylor Sorenson an
d Jason Davis (the Euros). Doug and Ryan have won the cup 3 times, and Taylor and Jason have also won it 3 times (twice they won after a tie which is like kissing your sister). The matches are almost always close with Doug and Ryan usually bombing it off the tee while Taylor and Jason winning holes with the short game (usually Taylor's putter). The winners are required to make a plaque for the trophy commemorating the victory and nicknaming the weekend. Match History

Who is Carl Spackler? "What an incredible Cinderella story--this unknow comes outta now where to the lead the pack at Augusta. He's on the final hold, he's about 455 yards away. He's gonna hit about a two-rion I think. Oh he gets all of that one! The crowd is standing on its feet here, the normally reserved Augusta crowd- going wild for this young Cinderella story. He's come out of no where. He's got about 350 yards left, he's gonna hit about a five iron, don't you think? He's got a beautiful backswing- that's...Oh he got all of that one! He's gotta be pleased with that, the crowd is just on its feet here, uh- (whispering now) He's the Cinderella boy, uh tears in his eyes I guess as he lines up this last shot. He's got about 195 yards left...he's gots about a- it looks like he's got about an eight iron. The crowd has gone deathly silent. The Cinderella story, outta no where, a former greenskeeper now--about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac...It's in the hole!!"
