Luca Ditommaso, # 31, made MVP of the week for the South West Swarm as the 2014 boys had their first tournament of their season.

Luca scored the only goal on a 7-1 loss in their opener Saturday afternoon. He then went on to score his first hat trick of the season in the 5-4 win in the second match of the weekend.

Sunday afternoon the Black and Gold came into the final scheduled match with a 1-1-0 and -4 goal differential ranking third of four in their bracket. The Swarm were pinned against the unbeaten Lawrenceburg Greendale Premier Tigers and was facing fierce competition.

Level at the half, the boys in gold were holding there own against the dynamic press of their opponent. Ninety seconds into the second half the Tigers dug their claws in deep with a roaring goal. With determination and a hunger to make their presence known, the Swarm came back to level just minutes later.

Coaches and parents alike were deafening as the unbeaten Lawrenceberg team had begun to unravel despite their head coaching staff reminding them to be a “rubberband.”

It was the South West Swarm that ended up being unbreakable coming home with a 2-2 draw when time expired sending the eventual champion Tigers to the final with their tails between their legs.

Coach Grace Delcamp noted these boys endured “a huge achievement” and we all look forward to what’s in store next match.
