Update: Bywater’s application to the Kentucky Housing Corporation for funding was not approved in this funding round.

Unfortunately our application to the Kentucky Housing Corporation for funding was not approved in the recent funding round. Although our team and the larger community helped make this a very strong application, this funding round was highly competitive. This is by no means the end-of-the-line and we at Bywater continue to pursue other alternatives to make this critically important development a reality. Thank you again to all those to made this application so strong; be assured we will continue to push forward on this development. Please check back on this often as we will be sure to provide updates on progress and timing on this ongoing effort.

We are happy to announce the Louisville Metro Planning Commission has unanimously approved a zoning change for the Jacob School site. Thank you all our development team members who lead the rezoning process.

Update: Date for Planning Commission Public Hearing regarding Jacob School Rezoning Application set for October 16, 2014.

At the September 25th meeting of the Land Development & Transportation Committee, the Jacob School applications for Rezoning and Alley Closure were reviewed and advanced to the next stage of the review process: the Planning Commission Public Hearing. Neighborhood residents will be formally notified of this Public Hearing, but we wanted to give everyone advance notice that the hearing is scheduled for Thursday October 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Old Jail Building located at 514 W. Liberty Street. Neighborhood residents and stakeholders are welcome and encouraged to attend this Public Hearing to express your views about the proposed redevelopment of Jacob School.

The Bywater Development Group Team would like to thank two neighborhood stakeholders, Ms. Miller and Mr. Luckett, who took time from their busy schedules to attend the Land Development & Transportation (LD&T) Committee Meeting on Thursday September 25th. We are most gratified that both expressed their support for the project. Mr. Luckett also reminded us of street parking concerns in the area, as discussed in our July community meeting. We took that input seriously as we developed the current plan which now has 57 off-street parking spaces—5 more than the preliminary plan that had been unveiled at the community meeting. We think this will more than accommodate the parking demand.

Meeting Announcement:
The Land Development & Transportation Committee (LD&T) Meeting for the Jacob School Zoning Change request will be on Thursday September 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Jail Building, located at 514 W. Liberty Street.

LD&T is a committee of the Planning Commission whose function is to review zoning changes and subdivisions, to schedule public hearing dates, and to make recommendations to the Planning Commission. If you would like to have formal input on the proposed development, LD&T is the first place to make your case.
