Happy birthday to my favorite sons!
Twenty long but oh so short years ago, we were blessed with two bundles of joy.
Life has been anything but boring since these two amazing souls entered the world.
I am endlessly amazed by your passion, hard work, grit and determination.
You have both been blessed with unique gifts and personalities and we are forever grateful for your love and light in our lives.

Another long week full of tests, scans, appointments, sweaty road trips, broken cars and long waits with my brave girl.
It is an exhausting out of body experience being at MDAnderson.
The paradoxical energy of hope and fear is hard to process or explain
It creates a sad but comforting sense of community.
We witness families coming together to care and support their loved ones.
We meet with a team of the best and brightest healthcare workers in the world and are comforted by their compassion, knowledge and dedication.
We share space with thousands of others who are traveling through the same unknown, frightening world of cancer.
We are all clinging to hope as we face the fears, the pain, the waiting, and the brutal reality that life can change irrevocably with one test, one scan, one sentence.
THANKFULLY, this is the first time in 3 years since Abbie’s diagnosis with medullary thyroid cancer metastasis, pheochromocytoma, and most recently, neuroendocrine cancer of pancreas/small intestine that we have had relatively “uneventful”, positive results! And we are thrilled ! It is hard to believe but we will gladly take it.
None of the spots in her thyroid, lungs, lymph nodes, liver, pancreas or small intestine showed significant growth and no new spots of concern were identified.
Blood tests were not as great, but for now, her team feels no action is needed aside from daily medications and repeat testing in 6 months.
We are beyond grateful for all of the prayers, texts, messages, surprise venmo treats, flowers and support from friends and family. Every single text/message/call/prayer is invaluable and more helpful than you will ever know.
Please keep the prayers coming!

The twin “telepathy” has been strong these past few months and it has been challenging beyond measure.
Alex and Ben were both in the hospital for a week , on the same floor, in different wings, at the same time for different issues- a bone infection and a mystery condition that resulted in being unable to walk, function or eat/drink.
They were both discharged on the same day….And today, after months of surgeries, appointments, tests, physical therapy, struggles and fears, they are both returning to different cities to their hockey teams.
They say it is not just about reaching a specific destination but who you become on the journey, and these two are proof of that.
There have been endless lessons, emotions and challenges yet they have faced them with faith, courage and determination.
They never wavered. Their desire to return back to the sport they love and their choice to learn, and grow along the way fueled them during their hardest moments.
They prayed, processed and persevered and I could not be more proud.
It is bittersweet to pack them up today. We have had extreme togetherness and while I hated the reason for it, I cherished the time with them. BUT I am thrilled that prayers were answered and they are finally healthy enough to return to their teams and finish their seasons.
Thank you for the amazing, sustaining prayers and support throughout this ordeal and please keep those prayers going 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Another visit to MDAnderson Cancer Center.
Another new cancer diagnosis.
Another year dealing with endless tests, appointments, fears, questions, doubts and symptoms.
Another year watching this brave, amazing girl .cameronn demonstrate unbelievablefaith, hope, perseverance, courage and strength.
It’s impossible to express the complex mix of emotions that arise before, during and after these visits. It’s incredibly depressing, but also brings an odd but comforting sense of community. You witness tremendous despair and suffering but also hope and healing.
As with all challenges in life, we must not ask why but how. How do we move forward, how to do to make this meaningful, how do we use our struggles, our new strength, perspective and awareness to help others.
Please keep the prayers coming as Abbie continues this battle with cancer, and as she continues to work as an oncology nurse helping others through their battles🙏🏼

My biggest lessons:
1. Life is relentlessly hard; resisting this fact brings more suffering. Accepting this fact brings peace.
2. Friends and family make the hard times bearable and the good times brighter.
3. Kindness matters. Do it more.
4. Health is our most valuable asset
5. Dory was right you have to “just keep swimming”
6. Having faith and hope can be challening but hopelessness and fear are worse.
7. Always look for the meaning in every challenge/setback/loss, there is always something to be gained if you look for it. WHY NOT look for the wisdom/strength/lesson instead of looking for more reasons to feel angry?! You will always find those too but how does that serve you?
Im so grateful for all of my amazing friends, family and clients for making my year bearable and brighter! ❤️🌟❤️
I hope everyone has a happy new year!
Make the time to think of lessons learned, how to invest in your health, how to do more kind things and set intentions for the new year!

Happy 25th!? This age doesn’t seem possible. I will never comprehend how quickly time flies as I watch you grow.
Another bday and another year reflecting on how blessed we are to have you in our lives.
When you were born, it was hard to imagine we could ever love you more; yet every year, every day, we find our love for you grows and expands in ways we never imagined.
You are light, joy, laughs, fun, and sunshine. You have strength to overcome challenges some adults have yet to face and you have developed great kindness, compassion and wisdom as a result.
I hope you know your tremendous worth, accept and love yourself and others, and know you are loved beyond measure always💗

We raise our kids and prepare them for this moment all of their lives, but it’s impossible to prepare yourself for the moment you have to let them go.
It’s an inevitable, dreaded, exciting, scary, sad yet hopeful goodbye.
Every stage of parenting brings unique joys, pains, challenges and struggles.
We adapt and grow as they adapt and grow. But when this transition hits, this stage where your favorite humans leave your home, it requires the most life changing adaptations.
We have had exhausting but exciting back-to-back weekends full of cross country travel , packed cars, new beginnings, new adventures and tough goodbyes.
So proud of and for taking chances, venturing on new paths and traveling far away from their comfort zones. But did they have to travel so far?! Amarillo and Boston just gained two of my favorite men❤️❤️
