One of the worst things you can do is compare yourself to someone else.

That person over there lifting 200 pounds to your 20? They’re not you. They haven’t been on the same journey. They didn’t start at the same time.

And just because they’re lifting 10x the weight, doesn’t mean they’re 10x more successful than you are.

Despite what social media may tell you.

Look, in my experience, the people who say the most on social media are often the ones who are doing the least.

Don’t believe it.

Don’t try to live up to it.

Just do you and you’ll be fine.

But whatever you do, don’t ever compare yourself to someone else.

It’s an insult to you. :-)

To your fitness success,

Coach Sam

When working with clients I've found that when it comes to their diet, most have a nutrition deficit in 3 different areas.

These deficits are typically what are standing in their way of having the body and the health they desire.

Protein: Your body needs an adequate protein supply throughout the day to support lean mass and fat burning, as well as immune health and hormone balance, and to improve transportation of nutrients and waste throughout the body.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3’s help reduce inflammation which is the source of all diseases. It also helps with cardiovascular, neurological, and brain health.

Essential Vitamins and Minerals: No matter how much you prioritize fruits and vegetables, it’s almost impossible to consistently get the right mixture and amount to provide your body with the exact profile of micronutrients it needs to thrive.

Every person’s situation is unique. But these are three common deficiencies I’ve seen many and that I wanted to share with you.

If you have questions about how complete (or incomplete) your current diet is -- or would like advice on how to improve the above deficiencies -- shoot me a reply. I’d love to help!

To your fitness success,

Coach Sam

📊 COVID-19 update for April 12: 4,160 positive patients. We are saddened to report we have lost 110 Missourians to COVID-19.

📋 How we calculate statewide and county totals:
Our goal is to provide you with a statewide statistical service. Each day, the team at the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services collects data directly from the Missouri State Public Laboratory and the private laboratories across the state. In total, we have the ability to test between 1,000-2,000 Missouri patients per day as the availability from private labs fluctuates. By 2 p.m., we publish all of the information we have available to us that includes numbers we didn’t have the previous day.

📋 Why the numbers may not match perfectly:
(1) County health departments may announce local data as it is received. Any information that is reported by a laboratory after 2 p.m. will not be reflected by our team until the next day. (2) Also, our county totals reflect a patient’s home address, rather than the county in which the patient tested positive.

🦠 A CLOSER LOOK AT COVID: Is it true that patients who had a flu shot have been receiving false positive test results. Short answer: absolutely not. A history of receiving the influenza immunization does not make patients more likely to test positive for COVID-19. The flu vaccine doesn't include any of the coronaviruses and doesn't create any "viral interferences" for COVID-19 patients.
