I finally got a chance to make it to a game for all three of our Black Widows middle school girls. Between schedule conflicts and games being canceled because of the heat, it’s been a challenge to get to all of them. Our girls have helped lead their teams to an impressive 29-4 combined record. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but they’re also 3-0 in the games I’ve attended! 😂

Emma has been dominant in the circle, including a 21-strikeout performance in a single game, while also batting third in the lineup.

Haleigh is back behind the plate and seeing some time in CF, while wreaking havoc on the bases as the leadoff hitter.

Dakota is batting cleanup, driving the ball and knocking in a ton of runs while playing some stellar defense at 1B.

As much as we’d love to have these three at our weekday practices in the near future, I have a feeling they’re all going to be busy making some pretty deep playoff runs. And honestly, we’re perfectly fine with that!

We'd like to introduce our 2030 Black Widows 14U team!

We're returning 10 players and adding one more familiar face, a longtime Widow moving from within the organization.

Now, don't let the individual photos fool you. With a proper nutrition plan, a few push-ups, and a lot of hard work, these girls might actually stand a chance. 😄

In all seriousness, this is a talented, hardworking group that has already put in the work and will continue to do so throughout the offseason. We're excited to watch them grow together and see what they accomplish this year. We truly believe this team has something special, and we can't wait to get started.

Our season came to a close this weekend at the Great Lakes/Midwest Nationals.

With tournaments this large, the final standings don't always tell the full story. In our case, though, a fifth-place finish was a fair reflection of how we played. Our only losses came to the teams that finished 3rd and 4th. Throughout the tournament, the girls competed hard and gave maximum effort, just as they had all season.

We finished the year with an overall record of 48-20, earned multiple first- and second-place finishes, and capped the season with two strong performances at National tournaments.

This season began with a brand-new team, bringing together girls from five different teams. We had new coaches, new teammates, and several players learning completely new positions. Every one of them stepped outside their comfort zone, bought into the process, and quickly came together as a team. While we still have plenty to work on, this group didn't just meet our expectations as a coaching staff, they exceeded them.

Girls, enjoy some well-deserved time off. To our middle school players, good luck with your school seasons. Every now and then, take a look into the stands, you never know when one of your Black Widows coaches will be there cheering you on.

We can't wait to get back together this fall. 🕷️🥎
