Based in Stamford, CT, we are the cities Youth Soccer training company. We have a very simple concept and approach to teaching Soccer.
We want to give the game back to our players we work with by giving them the best experiences whilst learning, having fun and playing Soccer in the right way. QTSA will strive to give all the players we teach the basics of Soccer so they can develop their skills faster and develop a love for the game for life. We believe in our FLASHPATHWAY TM Curriculum that uses our 3v3 circuit model to expedite
the learning process, which enables the players we work with to have a high repetition of game like touches and small sided game scenarios. This will help our players to love the ball, be creative and play in the QTSA style of play once the competitive games come around. QTSA has a bigger objective, which is to help spread the game of Soccer within the USA. We want this generation we teach to love the game so much, watch the games on TV and pass along the game to their own children in the future. The game in the US needs to have a generation that embraces the worlds game and we see this current generation of kids as the ones to do it! Soccer has massive potential in the USA and QTSA wants to be a part of its growth! QTSA FLASHPATHWAY TM
3v3 FLASH:
The basics of how Soccer skills are taught are very important and the timing of when they are taught is crucial for long term development. Many young players 1st sample of Soccer is normally an environment that’s not conducive to learning the key skills, enough time spent on developing the key skills and in a playing format that gives no real chance to practice the key skills in a game setting. The development of the 3v3 Curriculum took in to consideration these key elements for what young players should be doing in their “A, B, C” years. We call it 3v3 FLASH
Fun:
Children by default will gravitate to anything they deem fun. The fun part is what keeps children and their families coming back for more. With 3v3 being such a fast paced, high scoring and engrossing game, youngsters will have more fun with the 3v3 game in their early Soccer years. Learning:
Children are smarter than we give them credit for. If they can learn something and then show what they’ve learnt, they will want to show off this new found knowledge to everyone they can speak to. 3v3 gives the platform to show off this new found knowledge more than any other format of Soccer. Action:
Children have so much energy, that they need a game that will give them the chance to run, jump and play their way to exhaustion. They need a game that gives them so much interaction and chance to impact situations that they feel the need to be involved all the time. 3v3 is a fantastic way for youngsters to get the much needed energy burn off that other forms of Soccer and other sports can’t deliver. Self improvement:
Children will know if they are playing well, improving and how they stand up against their peers. If a young Soccer player can feel and see their own improvement, they will be more inclined to keep working and trying hard to get better. 3v3 is the best showcase of a young player’s skills, improvements and future Soccer development. Heart for the game:
With all the considerations in place, we feel a Heart for the game will grow and be a young player’s choice to keep playing, having fun, learn the game and stay with Soccer for life. Without this, we can’t grow the sport or levels of play. 3v3 will develop the “heart for the game”
The Curriculum:
The Curriculum follows a very basic premise... “Build from simple to complex”
The way the Curriculum is set up is very simple. We space out the physical and mental information young players need to improve over a 4 year plan(u7-u11). Each year has specific technical skills and soccer situations that will help a player understand the ball, how to work in a team and develop a sound decision making Soccer brain. The Simple:
Players who come through our system will be given the information, platform and opportunity to practice the basics of the game. If the basics of the game are not taught early and correctly, then any player missing out on this will be forever playing catch up and not get the enjoyable experience that they could. Dribbling/Individual ball skills:
Players will be given a full break down of dribbling techniques. The focus is on having full control of a soccer ball when running with the ball. The introduction of playing with a soft touch, how to change direction, dribble with your head up and how to use space will be taught, repeated and practice to an extent, that players will be comfortable doing these basics at an earlier age. There are also a number of 1v1 moves, foot to ball manipulation skills that are taught to help players work out their own style and general touch with a Soccer ball. Receiving and Passing:
Players will be given a full break down for how to receive and pass with all parts of the feet. How to execute the basics for these techniques will build from an isolated situation that has no defensive pressure, to passive defensive pressure and then full pressure. We build the technique up this way, so in future years the technique is 2nd nature and done with ease no matter the scenario. Playing the game:
A big focus for all our youngsters will be to put in to action what’s been practiced in our 3v3 training games. 3v3 training games make up at least 25 minutes of each lesson. The coaching philosophy in these particular games will be nothing more than a re-emphasis of the technical information given out in the earlier part of the lesson. We encourage, encourage and encourage and never stop the game or the encouragement! The Complex:
Playing 1v1:
Playing 1v1 is a very important and difficult part of Soccer. Dribblers are seen as a rarity in the game today. This is down to philosophy and lack of trust. It’s coached out of young players before they’ve even tried to do it. The philosophy in our curriculum for this part of the game is simple: “1v1, take them on” We will give players numerous occasions every single lesson to play 1v1. The catalogue of 1v1 practices is immense and gives players a chance to sample realistic situations, practice our set of 1v1 moves and do so in a highly repetitive and competitive environment
Possessing the ball:
Possessing a soccer ball takes a lot of skill, correct techniques applied and understanding of how to support team mates. With the curriculum being focused on player development and giving the patient approach needed to young Soccer players, we can break down how to apply techniques, correct supporting movements and body positions that are essential for playing an attractive passing style of Soccer. Game decision making:
The heavy focus within the curriculum is developing the “A, B, C’s” of the game. A huge part of Soccer at any level is making quick and intelligent decisions when on and off the ball. With the break down of the ball skills, how to apply them in our 1v1 and small grouped possession sections of the lesson, this will allow players to quickly understand how to apply the key decisions they will need to make due to a sound technical base. Letting the game teach the players:
The best part about the curriculum is the heavy focus on actually playing the game. There is a lot of game time for players to practice and execute the ball skills and decisions they are developing in the technical parts of each lesson. The game time is so important and teaches more than words and practices ever can. We have huge confidence with the right balance the curriculum has of teaching skills and allowing game time to happen, that players will develop more quickly and to a higher level of play.
