Working from home may mean spending long hours sitting and staring at a digital screen or on video or phone calls. The brain is overused, and the physical body is underused these days. Have you noticed that sometimes starting the mental engine in the am takes a while? If so, what do you do to get its creative juices flowing and prepped for the work day ahead? Meditation & yoga 🧘🏻‍♀️ are a great way to start the day; however, sometimes a walk, run 🏃🏻‍♀️ , and getting your hand in the soil can break the predictable routine, a reminder to self. What does self-care look like for you?

Personally, I have noticed any movement (especially outdoors) in the am really boosts the energy of the body & brain! Work will always be there waiting for you, so make sure what makes a difference in your health and well-being is prioritized and scheduled. Only you know what’s best for you, so go do that. Did you know that spending quiet time in nature – especially among trees – can improve your health? Even just 5 little minutes appears to make a real difference. I encourage you this week to spend a total of 35 minutes (that’s just 5 minutes a day!) around trees or in “green spaces” (i.e., city parks/etc.). You can do this all at once if necessary, but a daily break might do your body better. 🙂

💪⚡Have you ever noticed how some people seem to have an easier time sticking to their health and fitness goals (or really, ANY goal they set their mind to)?

👉Well a new study shows that it might be because they have a strong sense of life purpose.

🔥Researchers from the Annenberg School theorize that having a strong purpose can make it easier to make healthier decisions. Their study was published in the medical journal Health Psychology.

💥The scientists recruited 200 sedentary people who had body mass indexes falling into the obese or overweight category. Each participant took a survey measuring their feelings about their life purpose. Researchers then showed them health messages promoting physical activity while their brain responses were measured.

💡💁‍♀️Their findings: People who reported a stronger life purpose were more likely to agree with the health messages, plus they showed less activity in the areas of the brain that are associated with processing conflict.

❓The takeaway? Self-development gurus always say to “find your why” – the driving reason you truly want to achieve your goal in the first place.

🔥✨When your “why” fits into your larger purpose, it helps keep you focused and on-track. Here are a few “why’s” that have been powerful motivators for people:

- You want to be able to play and be active with your kids (or grandkids!).
- Your energy is dragging and you feel like you’re missing out on quality of life.

Bare with me as this video was recoreded with every possible challenge, so a little rough around the edges. I didn't want to postpone it to tomorrow because I said I would.

Me: I’m happy to see you make healthy smoothies over the past few months.

Son: Well I can only choose from what is available mom😉😂

What I found interesting was the awareness to recognize which protein powder was comfortable on his belly after drinking his smoothie and which wasn’t. He shared the one with fewer ingredients was better on the belly than the one with many more. I didn’t teach him any of this. They are watching us even when we don’t feel that way.

Role modeling listening to your body’s cues empowers them to get curious about their body’s response to anything they choose to nourish it with. The sooner they experience this feedback loop, the better. As a parent, listen and honor what they share. Trust their innate intelligence.

We are bio-individuals and so what is suitable for one may not be for another even though a food may be categorized as healthy.

Experimenting & listening to your body is the best way to eat and feed what your body is able to digest & absorb. 🍓🥭🥒🍊🍐🍏🍌
