My wife and I are visiting from Texas and looking to play indoor doubles sand at NVVA. I've contacted their help desk and it's $81/hr for the court. Would love to find some potential opponents to play against for a couple hours on Sunday Feb 6th in the morning! May have a male player, looking for an AA to Open level female beach player.

Hand setting is treated a little differently on the beach. Because of the environment you are allowed to hold the ball for a very small amount of time. Helping you get a smoother set!

✅ Bump Set: A set with both arms together where the ball bumps off the forearms. Just like a pass but usually the second hit and a subsequent attack should follow. ⠀

8/9 Legal to Lift/Push/Carry a Hard-Driven Ball.⠀
⠀
Outdoors, it is legal to momentarily lift or push a "hard-driven ball" on the first team contact. This type of contact allows for overhand "beach digs" that would be ruled as lifts indoors. The spirit of this rule is to keep the ball in play longer. In doubles, obviously, there is a lot of court to cover, so the rules give some leniency to allow for longer rallies.⠀

5/9 Strict Calling of Sets and First Ball Contact.⠀
⠀
Outdoors, it is illegal to double contact the first ball if the ball is not hard-driven and if "finger action" is used. To legally double the first ball when using finger action (i.e. setting), you have to be defending a hard-driven attack. It also means you're defending an opponent's attack on a ball that's moving fast enough such that the referee can judge that you didn't have time to play the ball any other way.⠀
