Well, the beard oil wasn't enough Friday night. 🧔🏒

The Graybeards opened the 5th Annual Hero Invitational with a hard-fought battle against the Bearcats, ultimately falling 3-1. The score wasn't what we wanted, but the boys shook off some rust, worked out a few kinks, and showed plenty of fight right to the final horn.

Now it's Saturday, and that means it's survival hockey. ⚔️

The Hero Invitational is a double-elimination tournament, and the math is pretty simple: win and keep playing, lose and start loading the gear bags. A victory Saturday morning keeps the Beards alive and could lead to as many as three games on Day 2. Keep the train rolling and there could be two more games on Sunday, including a shot at bringing home the hardware. 🏆

A special Graybeard salute goes out to #53 Matt Caple, who wasted no time making an impact in his first game wearing the Beards sweater. Matt buried the lone Graybeards goal Friday night and officially etched his name into Graybeards lore. Congratulations, Matt! 👏

And while we're handing out congratulations, we'd like to wish a very Happy 21st Birthday to #36 Paul Boelk! 🎂🎉 We won't speculate on how many candles fit in the locker room, but we're pretty sure he's still younger than the average Graybeard by a few decades. Happy Birthday, Paul!

In just over two weeks, the Graybeards head to Stillwater, Minnesota for the 5th Annual Hero Invitational Hockey Tournament — a full weekend of hockey, camaraderie, and support for a great cause.
