Today is eleven years we lost Coach Ken Moran. He started this club around 20 years ago. If it wasn't for that club, there would have been no fencing in this area. He loved the sport and all he wanted to do was tell EVERYONE about it and have them come!
We miss him and his enthusiasm and support for all who came. He'd be pretty proud of what our fencers have accomplished during those eleven years and I am happy and fortunate that TCFC has continued on with the dream he had.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Fencing Family - fencers, parents, everyone who is a part of our club, thankful that we have a great group!
Enjoy some time with family and friends!

September 9 - what better way to spend your birthday than fencing! Gianna's turn to get her touches - 17 this time.
Over the past few years Gianna has become more serious about her fencing, working really hard, going to competitions, pushing herself to be better and better. Last season she qualified for Nationals with points by attending regional events and is on the way again this season. She'll be going to Junior Olympics as well.
Gianna brings a good attitude to club all the time; she'll take on any challenger and always intends to learn from her bouts.
Happy 17th to Gianna!

The Great Pumpkin! September 27, hosted by Winter Garden Fencing Academy
Another good opportunity for practice with a Senior Foil event and Div 2, which Gianna fenced in. She finished 3rd in both - Good job!
Gianna also did a little double duty directing some bout as well.
Brenden also attended and it's been a while since he competed. Nevertheless, he pulled off a lot of good actions while getting back in the groove of competing.
He fenced the Senior foil, 7th, Unrated Mens Foil, 3rd, and Div 2 9th. A very satisfying day for him.
Finally Y8 - little Lily is getting out there. She is eager to compete and never shies away from a bout. She fought hard and made it to final strip and came home with her Silver Pumpkin!
As always, the awards are fun and different - thank you Coach Jenny for putting such effort into them and as always, the WGFA events are well run in a nice venue. Thank you!

Battle at the Beach ROC in Jacksonville August 30-31
Gianna went to this and had a great time. She fenced Div 2 (third) Junior (6th) Div1A (5th) - all those on one day and Sunday, Div 3 (third)
So a day full of competition with great fencing! Gianna got to fence some very good opponents and you can never have too much experience with that!
Thanks again to Coaches Jenny and Jason Seachrist for hosting the ROC a huge undertaking so we have a great place to fence. Also, as usual, beautiful awards.

September 15 - another birthday stab! Olivia has been coming to club for a while now, works hard with a good attitude all the time. Her turn for 13 touches on the strip! She got to fence a few fencer of her choice at club to get the 13 and we all had fun participating.
Happy 13th to Olivia!

August - We had a special celebration for Nate. TCFC has a little memorial scholarship awarded to a fencer who is currently at club and is graduating and off to school. This is the Ken Moran Memorial Scholarship keeping alive the dream of fencing for everyone; that dream was Coach Ken's basis for starting this club. This year, Nate's name goes on the plaque and he receives some money as well.
While Nate has been at club, he has improved greatly and focused on getting better. He brought his unique sense of humor and enthusiasm to club every time he came. Never shied away from helping anyone, being respectful of everyone at club and working to better himself all the time. He took it upon himself (along with his sister, Gianna) to learn how to direct, pass the tests and be a director at tournaments. Nate is also an Eagle Scout and excels in school.
Nate has also been to competitions and this last Summer Nationals was a bonus for him, as Drew University coaches liked him and thought he'd be a great addition to their school and fencing team.
Now, Nate is at Drew and also was given scholarship there. I'm very happy that TCFC has been an asset on his path in life. We are proud to have another fencer at Drew and wish him much success. He'll be more immersed in fencing and will have the opportunity to compete with a broad variety of fencers. Oh, and there's school too; Nate is interested in a career in law.
We'll be seeing him on his breaks from school and are looking forward to those times!

More Birthdays! More Stababrations!
Lily turned 8 but had to go away on vacation, so she cranked out her touches it intensity! on the 8th of this month. She comes every week, sometimes twice a week and has competed in some Regional events! Even given epee a try! She's in the footsteps of her brother, (and her mom!) on the way to good fencing!
Sofia turned 17 on the 4th, so she came and did her touches as well. Her mom is a great cake baker, so there was cake to celebrate! Sofia has been coming for a bit over a year, she's a great addition to club and has also gone to a few competitions.
Happy Birthday!!!!!

SWORDPLAY Camp 2025 Great week with a lot of learning, sweating and improvement. Seven attendees with an array of skill levels still made for a very good environment. One person who is very new focused on basic skills and getting those down a little better and the more advanced ones worked on improving what they had, understanding what they were capable of and getting some courage out on the strip to execute it. Everyone made huge gains and the end of camp tournament allowed for the competitive spirit to be enjoyed. At the end, Brenden took the gold, he was very focused that day, and gave Lucas a really good challenge. Kai and Foster were third tie and the others fought hard and had very good attitudes about results. That's important because you learn whether you win or lose. Look forward to next year's camp!

Can Am Veterans Cup A little late with this, as it was May 31 - June 1. This is always a great event at a beautiful venue in Markham, Ontario. Enjoyed a day there - a long trip for fencing, but was productive. Only fenced foil as time was a consideration. Placed Third in a challenging Open Vet event - and here, you win a little prize money for top four! We had a great team - four left handed fencers! Our team took the gold! As always, a good time was had; plenty of directors, a nice finals strip and friendly fencers everywhere.
