What’s a 5K without supporting other organizations doing good in our community?
OutRun Hunger is THIS WEEKEND, and we can't wait to see you at our starting line this Saturday! We know you'll also love supporting other local events that turn miles into impact!..
For years, The Thankful Ones and their Pecan Grove Turkey Trot have supported OutRun Hunger. This Thanksgiving morning, they’ll celebrate their 10th annual race, raising funds to support adoption needs right here in Fort Bend County.
The Thankful Ones was born from one local family’s own adoption journey and their realization that many children and families face similar challenges without the same support system. Their Turkey Trot has grown into a Thanksgiving tradition that helps them give that support to others.
And if one Thanksgiving morning race isn’t enough to choose from, the Sugar Land Turkey Trot is celebrating its 41st year in Sugar Creek!
The race was started in 1986 by Coach Andy Stewart and was the original Turkey Trot in the Houston area. Today, his family and closest friends continue the tradition in his memory, bringing the community together each Thanksgiving morning while giving back to Fort Bend County.
This longtime tradition offers a 1-mile Kids Run, 5-mile timed race and 2.8-mile family walk/jog, with proceeds benefiting five Fort Bend County charities, including EFBHNM. And talk about a full-circle moment: they also host a food drive on race morning, with the shelf-stable donations coming directly to our food pantry!
We love seeing local nonprofits, events, businesses and neighbors show up for one another. And we know that supporting another organization’s mission doesn’t take away from your own. It makes our whole community stronger!
So first things first: OutRun Hunger THIS SATURDAY!
Then keep those running shoes handy. Your next Fort Bend County race for a cause is waiting!
