has jokes today......

Finally got to see one one these in person today while coaching during a private session. The Primary Arms PLx HTX with ACSS Vulcan Reticle is a higher tier red dot for pistol optic with a very robust installation system and quality build. It's enclosed, but sits relatively low. I'm not a fan of the ACCS reticle for a couple of reasons but I'll say this..... the 4 MOA center dot is one of the clearest dots I've ever seen as far as having no burst, trails, or doubles caused from my astigmatism. The price is definitely on the high side. Especially for Primary Arms, but there's a reason they can't keep this in stock. Time will tell, but for duty, this may take the top spot over the Acro P2 imo.

During a recent rifle class, someone in the class began to have malfunctions with the bolt not closing all the way. When one of the rounds was cleared out it was observed that the projectile had been pushed into the casing a bit. The rifle was taken off line and the barrel was checked. It had a blockage and a rod was used to clear it. Out came the culprit. 😬 It was just past the feed ramps. Shooter was shooting reloads.

Range Report: It's been a while since I've posted about my own progress and failures with training. I've been working on more control with more speed lately. Today I worked on multiple target engagements and Bill Drills with both pistol and rifle. (Although rifle was short of the 7 yard measurement I did before pistol for the Bill Drills.) Rifle was all in. Pushing speeds on the multiple targets and pistol Bill Drills finds me cursed with the constant C zone hit. Still showing good improvements though.

Personal post: Since retiring from LEO work in 2024, I've remained in a limited part-time capacity continuing to work in Training and serve on the SWAT Team. Last week I resigned from the department in order to focus on my next steps. I may return later, but it's not my intention right now to do so. Tomorrow I'll turn in my gear. I'm going to miss it. I'm going to miss helping on the range whenever I could. It's been fun trying to push police to train better in the area of fi****ms. It's great to see things click with officers in training and it's been great working with a department who allows the Training Division to push the status quo. On a different level I'm going to miss the SWAT team. I'll still see them about, but I'll miss the training days and the call outs with them a lot.

This picture was taken at the last range day I trained with the Team. I didn't ask for it to be taken. (I'm vain but not that vain 🤣). It just so happened that some of the fine folks from showed up and took some great photos of the Team. Pretty cool to have a picture taken on my last SWAT training day in kit while on the range. The 2 things I remained on the job for captured in one photo.

I'm looking forward to what's coming for my life on the range. New adventures are waiting.
