“Just checking in” isn’t a follow-up. It’s a signal that there was no clear next step to begin with.
When a deal is properly advanced, you don’t need to chase it. Both sides know exactly what happens next, when it happens, and why it matters.
If your pipeline is full of follow-ups like this, the issue isn’t timing or persistence. It’s a lack of structure in how decisions are being guided.

When a pipeline stalls, most people default to activity.
More calls. More emails. More follow-ups.
But stalled deals are rarely a volume problem.
They’re decision problems.
Something isn’t clear enough yet,
the problem, the cost, the outcome, or the next step.
Until that’s defined, movement feels forced.
Fix the clarity, and the pipeline moves again. Learn more here: https://link.exceleratesales.com/sp/a07084780c8

Most deals don’t slow down because of price or competition.
They slow down because the problem isn’t fully clear.
When there’s no clarity, everything feels like pressure,
the pitch, the follow-up, even the close.
But when the problem is understood,
the next step feels natural.
That’s the shift most reps miss.
We’re diving into this inside the Revenue Engine Masterclass: https://link.exceleratesales.com/sp/a07084780c8

Most stalled deals aren’t about price or timing.
They’re about missing context.
When buyers feel like they’re being pushed, they pause.
When they feel like they’re being understood, they move.
Slow down. Ask better. Listen deeper.
That’s where momentum actually comes from.
Let's talk more about it here: https://link.exceleratesales.com/sp/a07084780c8

Most pipelines don’t fail from lack of activity.
They fail from lack of clarity.
If deals keep stalling, it’s not a closing problem, it’s something earlier in the conversation that never got resolved.
Strong pipelines aren’t built by pushing deals forward.
They’re built by understanding what’s actually holding them back.
Fix the thinking, and the numbers follow. Learn more about the Revenue Engine Masterclass here: https://link.exceleratesales.com/sp/a07084780c8

Most sales advice teaches control.
Control the conversation. Control the objection. Control the close.
But real trust isn’t built through control.
It’s built through clarity.
When you understand the buyer’s reality, their problem, context, and hesitation, the conversation changes.
Less pressure.
More progress.

Tomorrow at 10:30 AM PT, I’m teaching the Revenue Engine Masterclass.
The focus is eXplore Reality, the step where sales conversations are either strengthened or weakened.
We’ll cover:
✅ Why most discovery stays at the surface
✅ How to identify the real problem behind the symptom
✅ What actually creates urgency in a conversation
✅ Why pitching too early breaks trust
✅ How to turn clear diagnosis into a repeatable sales system
This is for people who want to sell without pressure.
People who want to be direct but still human.
People who know more activity isn’t the answer better understanding is.
Bring a notebook.
You’ll leave with questions and language you can use immediately.
There’s still time to register: https://link.exceleratesales.com/sp/a07084780c8

The contract is not the win. The renewal tells the truth.
In recurring revenue, the signature is only the beginning.
A customer may sign because the numbers make sense.
But they renew because the service matches the promise.
That is one of the biggest lessons field sales taught me.
When you sell contracts, consumables, service agreements, renewals, and long-term relationships, you cannot hide behind a clever close.
The customer sees the truth every week.
Did you understand their operation? Did you solve the real problem? Did you set clear expectations? Did the service team deliver? Did the account feel cared for after the sale? Did you show up when something went wrong?
That is where trust becomes revenue.
Not in a slick pitch.
In the follow-through.
That is why the Revenue Engine is not just about getting someone to say yes.
It is about building the kind of operating system that supports retention, renewal, referrals, and expansion.
The best revenue is not extracted.
It is earned, protected, and expanded through trust.
I'm teaching the front-end of that system in the Masterclass: eXplore Reality. Comment RENEWAL and I'll send the details.
