๐ How High Can You Jump? It Matters More Than You Think! โณ๏ธ
One of the performance tests we use at Golfletica is the Vertical Jump Testโand it's also a key assessment used by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). ๐ฅ
Why do we test it? Because your vertical jump is a great indicator of your body's ability to produce explosive power.
๐๏ธโโ๏ธ In the golf swing, power starts from the ground up. The more force you can generate into the ground, the more energy you can transfer through your legs, hips, core, and into the club. That's called ground reaction force, and it's one of the biggest contributors to clubhead speed.
A higher vertical jump often reflects:
โ
More lower-body power
โ
Better explosive strength
โ
Greater potential for faster clubhead speed
โ
More distance off the tee ๐ฃ
While jumping high won't automatically make you hit the ball farther, it tells us a lot about your athletic potential and helps us build a training program that translates power into your golf swing.
๐ Test. Train. Improve. Swing faster. Hit it farther.

๐๏ธโโ๏ธ๐๏ธ Want Rotational Strength and Power? This is one of my favorite to create power from the ground! ๐
๐๏ธ Yes, you can get strong with single-leg exercises!
Here I am performing a Single Leg Deadlift with 205 lbs. ๐ช
Many people think heavy strength training requires both feet on the ground, but single-leg exercises can build impressive strength, stability, and athletic performance.
Why are single-leg exercises great for golfers? โณ
โ
Improve balance and body control throughout the swing
โ
Increase lower-body strength while reducing side-to-side imbalances
โ
Enhance hip stability and mobility for better rotation
โ
Develop ground force production on each leg independently
โ
Help reduce injury risk by improving movement quality

If you're an adult golfer looking to increase club head speed, the trap bar deadlift deserves a spot in your training program.
Why? Because golf swing speed is heavily influenced by your ability to produce force through the ground and transfer that power through the body. The trap bar deadlift develops strength and power in the glutes, hamstrings, quads, and coreโthe same muscles responsible for generating speed in the golf swing.
Unlike conventional barbell deadlifts, the trap bar places the load closer to your center of mass. This allows for a more upright torso position, reducing stress on the lower back while still providing a powerful training stimulus. For many adult golfers, this makes the trap bar deadlift a safer and more accessible option.
Benefits for golfers:
๐๏ธ Increased lower-body force production
๐๏ธ Improved ground reaction forces
๐๏ธ Greater potential for club head speed
๐๏ธ Enhanced overall athleticism
๐๏ธ Lower spinal stress compared to traditional deadlifts
The goal isn't to become a powerlifterโit's to build the strength foundation that supports faster swings, longer drives, and greater resilience on the course.
