You ought to be turning 4. How I WISH you were turning 4. I grow weary of crying over pictures of a ghost. You should be here. It's not fair.
Mae Day 2k Memorial Run
Hi! The Mae Day 2k is an annual gathering to celebrate the life and legacy of Kassidy Mae Meads. She was the light of our lives.
Mae died unexpectedly in the summer of 2024 from exceedingly rare cardiac tumors (called myxomas).
So few years. Such a short timeline. She ought to be nearly 4. Instead, my daughter is forever 2. She is surrounded by so many forevers. Forever missed. Forever loved. But NEVER forgotten. Oh, Mae, these days are SO gut wrenching for me. I don't know how to escape this pain. I don't know what to do.
She's flooding in and some days I can bear the pain. Maybe I'm over-tired. These pictures are so bittersweet. So happy to see her bc it proves she existed. She was REAL. She was here. But, so devastating to see her bc she never grows up.

THANK YOU ALL who dared to come out to celebrate and REMEMBER my Mae. Thank you for helping me to carry her forward. I can never adequately express my gratitude. Words are too little to express how integral your presence is to holding my fragile heart together. I love you all! For those who weren't there in person, but were there in heart and soul, I see you and I thank you, too. NOTHING prepares you for burying your child. NOTHING prepares you for the grief that is your shadow. Only the love and support of those who love you offer the armor needed to fortify and carry her forward.
Today! Is the Mae Day 2k! 0900-ish @ Tom Brown Park. Meet by the Blue Playground. Expect Shenanigans! Mae handled the weather. Thank you, babygirl!
We're 3 days away from THE Mae Day 2k. Please join us: Sunday, May 3rd @ 0900-ish @ Tom Brown Park, by the Blue Playground. You prolly won't PR, but you will have a huffing/puffing good time and meet some cool a*z ppl. My daughter cleared the weather. She made sure to make it cool enough for my heat sensitive ass. C**t, Mae, and I can't wait to see y'all there! As always, expect Shenanigans.

We have 32 days until THE Mae Day 2k! It's the annual memorial event for my daughter, Mae Meads, who was murdered by vicious cardiac myxomas (tumors) that invaded the left chamber and aorta of her heart. I'm still furious. And deeply heartbroken. I can't think too long about the finality of death bc the sh*tty deal she got makes me want to crawl out of my skin. The rage is overwhelming.
So, I created her race, with the immense help and prodding of her godmom and godsister.
This annual event is to celebrate the fearlessness and beauty of her life. To remember how bright and beautiful a light she was in this dark and foreboding world. She (and her brother) were the BEST part of my day (he's still a good part, but, he's a tween and often forgets that he must apply the deodorant for it to be effective).
We'll converge on Tom Brown Park in Tallahassee, FL at 0900(ish) on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026. We'll park by the Blue Playground and walk over to the start. The race is a 2k out and back course. All abilities are welcome. The course is on a paved trail bc Mae would be mortified if someone was unable to join the shenanigans bc uneven terrain made it impossible for them to huff and puff with the rest of us! Mae brought ppl together.
The theme of her event has always been:
She Will Go Where We Go.
It's my nod to giving her a BIG life. To make this a reality, her race has super cute performance race tees, similar to her event flyer pics. When you wear a Mae shirt, you take her with you on your travels. She's your riding buddy. Your ace. Your side kick. She goes where you go.
The tees are $25/ea and payment for one is due tomorrow. Just DM with number of shirts and sizes, if you're interested.
Payments can be made at:
Zelle: [email protected]
CashApp: $KimberSheldon
PayPal: Kimber729
Please don't feel obligated to purchase a Mae shirt. Mae, C**t, and I are so thrilled that you're coming to hang with us! As always, there will be shenanigans and we can't wait to see y'all there!

THE Mae Day 2k is a Memorial Run for Mae Meads. She died, unexpectedly, in 2024 from heart tumors. She was 2 years old. She was my daughter. The only granddaughter in our Brood of Boys.
The condition that murdered her is exceedingly rare and the first warning sign is sudden cardiac death. This memorial run is a way for me to carry my daughter forward. It is my way of ensuring she is never forgotten.
This run is a nod to our family tradition of 5k running. Mae LOVED our weekly races. We usually came in at the back of the pack, but we ran anyway for the vibes and community connection. It's hard to be a jerk when you're riding a runner's high, ya know?
Mae ADORED meeting new ppl and gorging herself on the snacks provided for the ravenous runners. For her last run, the Saturday before her death, the Watermelon Run in Monticello, she ate her weight in juicy, sweet watermelon slices. It was a beautiful day.
THE Mae Day 2k is a nod to her love of the sport and the community connections that running inspires.
This is the 2nd year of this memorial run. Because my daughter would expect nothing less, there will be shenanigans at this event.
The run meets at Tom Brown Park by the Blue Playground. It begins at 9am and is a 2k out and back course on a paved trail in the park.
It's a 2k run bc Mae was 2 when she died. 2's are a big theme in her life. She was my 2nd child, born in the year 2022, when she died, she was 2 years, 1 month and 2 weeks old. She died at 2211(1+1=2) on June 22nd, 2024. So, 2's are a thing.
This event is free to attend. There is no race fee or anything. This event is not timed, nor chipped. This event is about community and remembrance of those who aren't here anymore, but who we love fiercely just the same.
There are Mae Day 2k Memorial shirts that you can purchase. They are $25/ea for any size. It is not necessary AT ALL to snag a shirt. Mae is just happy you stopped by to hang out! However! Who wouldn't want to rock this ICON in performance tee form?
The theme of her memorial event will forever be:
She Will Go Where We Go
As Mae lay dying, I promised her 2 things (that 2 again): that we would be OK and that she would have a BIG life. Maybe not the way I had envisioned, but a BIG life in a new and beautiful way.
The idea behind her tees is that, when you wear her shirt, you are taking Mae with you wherever you're going. Mae is there in some small, infintessimal, immortally precious way. So far, Mae has been all over FL and on a roadtrip to Maryland (and, thus, every state that was driven through), she's been to Virginia and has swam in the ocean in Colombia. She's having a BIG life. So, if you wanna snag a shirt and take Mae along with you in your travels, just DM me. Money for these iconic gems has to be received by April 3rd (4/3/26) to ensure we'll have the shirts in time for race day.
Anywho! Her brother and I would be so honored if you guys came out on May 3rd to huff, puff, and party with us. To remember with us. To help us carry her forward.
Mae did not live a long time. Her life was tragically short and snatched away, but Mae had a GOOD life. She was loved and adored and protected and the smallest firecracker in a brood of nothing but boys...and she ruled them all. Her legacy will be just as fantastical as her life was. We have chosen to see the value of her life, not in years lived, but in impact left behind. And Mae did THAT in spades.
