Then came 1992. The Dream Team didn’t just dominate basketball… they globalized it. Kids across the world suddenly wanted to be like Jordan, Magic, and Bird. By 1998, the McGwire-Sosa home run chase had people checking box scores every single night like it was a TV series finale.

And honestly… 2007 might’ve been the perfect sports year ever. Brady chasing perfection. Kobe dropping 81. Messi and Ronaldo beginning their takeover. Every league had larger-than-life icons at the exact same time. Then 2016 somehow delivered three impossible underdog stories in one year: Leicester City shocking the soccer world, the Cavaliers coming back from 3-1 against a 73-win Warriors team, and the Cubs finally ending a 108-year curse.

Sports are always entertaining. But every once in a while, there’s an era where being a fan just feels different.
